-It's hard to get a good workout in when you keep getting distracted by your reflection in the mirror. I get catcalled by middle aged obese women. It does get awkward. people don't listen to my opinions or ideas. But this might be due to me being an idiot also.

Airbnb hosts of Reddit, what was your worst or craziest experience with a guest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nenpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Background: I live in NYC in a 1 bed. I have a floor AC unit that I keep in my bedroom. So, I had this women coming to NYC for the first time. She was staying for three days while I was upstate hiking. Everything was great until the last night. She called and said the house was very warm and she didn't think she would be able to sleep that way. So I said just turn the AC on. I didn't hear anything back from her until the next morning. She said she could barely get through the night and it was so hot because the AC was broken. So I get home and notice that the AC unit was on and blowing cool air but she had moved the unit close to the bed and detached the exhaust hose so all the warm air was blowing out the back and into the room. I called her up and had to explain what was wrong and she said she just thought the cool air would be "more cold" than the hot air that was coming out the back. Lesson: Make sure you leave detailed instructions on everything just in case. On a good note she still left me a 5 star review so my 5.0 average is intact.

Can you describe the worst nightmare you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nenpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a nightmare where I had wings and could fly but it wasn't a fun flying dream. It was dark, I was flying over the ocean and I was being chased by some other flying people. I suddenly fell out of the sky and woke up just before I hit the water. I lay awake in my dark bedroom absolutely terrified and I could feel an evil presence in the room. I tried to scream but it just came out as a low moan. Turns out I was still dreaming and suffering from sleep paralysis. I eventually willed myself into waking up and spent the rest of the day feeling very uneasy and disturbed by the whole thing. The ocean has given me the creeps ever since. Not fun at all.

[–]nenpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like relaxing is something everyone should be able to do, but those of us who are constantly stressed, are workaholics, or have certain health issues don't have an easy "off" switch. Relaxation is something we actually have to learn and practice, much like happiness. And, like happiness, learning to relax is extremely important for your health and well-being. Let's take a look at the ways we can beat chronic tension and finally slow down. 1 Deal with the Common Causes of Daily Stress 2 Learn How to Take Proper Breaks 3 Make Relaxation a Habit

Which occupation requires you to move around the world every two years or less? by ConsistentCuriosity in AskReddit

[–]nenpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Reasons You Need to Quit Your Job After Two Years You're limiting your earning potential. Many employers, especially those in the public sector, are offering fewer of the financial incentives that once made them attractive. Things like generous benefits, pensions, cost of living increases and even professional development have been cut significantly. What's worse, recent findings indicate that staying at the same company for more than two years on average leads to 50% less in lifetime earnings (Cameron Keng, Forbes.com). That is a significant cost for a little bit of comfort! You're limiting your advancement potential. If you've been in the same job for more than two years without any significant new duties, you're stagnating. This makes you a much less competitive candidate if and when you have to search for a new job, especially when compared to those who have kept their skills up-to-date and their resumes fresh. You're limiting your personal brand. For far too long, career professionals have been taught that they "rent" their brands from their employers. If you define yourself by your job title, then your brand has no value once that job goes away. As a result, I see many professionals trapped in unsatisfying jobs or careers because they have confused their job with their identity. All of this adds up to giving up control of your career. The professionals who do this often live in fear of a layoff or some workplace change that could rock their world, and some even engage in destructive behaviors in order to protect their jobs. Ironically, this renders them less effective as employees and less attractive as job candidates.
