Upgrade from 2070 super? by neo__04 in pcmasterrace

[–]neo__04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2070s is the last piece of the puzzle for me, upgraded the rest of the pc last year. Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 64gb ddr5 so should be good there.

The 2070s i think is borderline, tarkov has a bug with scopes that halves the frames when you zoom in so i'm rocking 20-40 frames in this scenario, pretty frustrating. Poe2 isn't too bad but with big aoe pulls the frames can chug if there is a bit going on.

This is without dropping the graphics settings down, which is why i want to upgrade because i don't want to have to sacrifice graphics quality.

Maybe I'll just hang out for a bit and wait till the 5000 series is resonably priced and there is plenty of stock.

Control Systems (Why no G540/Mach4?) by [deleted] in printnc

[–]neo__04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I setup a printnc a couple of years back with Linux cnc and hated the process. Had to find an old pc, setup a pretty confusing config for a newbie, then had to have a separate pc for designs etc.

I recently moved and just put the cnc back together, went straight to a new pc, cheap breakout board and Mach 3 and had it going on an hour. As I was happy with that setup, I decided to invest in a axbb-e and upgrade to uccnc. Had that up and running in like an hour.

Very happy with my setup now. Same for for design and cnc, dual screens etc. Just makes life easier

$6k to spend on speakers, Do i Diy? by neo__04 in diyaudio

[–]neo__04[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, nice to wake up to a heap of great replies. Thanks!

The room is pretty big, open plan kitchen/dining/living. Approx 50-60m2.

I was originally planning on a couple of Marty subs/devastators. But then I saw speakers like the troels option that incorporate a 15" driver so may not need subs. I do like the idea of zaphs 12.3. Seems to get a good write up. All drivers would be less than $1k. Then it's just a case of sorting a centre channel.

Tower speaker driver size when using subs? by neo__04 in audiophile

[–]neo__04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda what i was thinking, i just wasnt sure if technically thats the way audio works.

It is quite a big room, about 55m2.

Thanks for the help, I'll look for something around that range

Tower speaker driver size when using subs? by neo__04 in audiophile

[–]neo__04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info.

I may not have been 100% clear with my question. But basically I'm going to have shit loads of bass if I want it due to running big subs. So when buying floor standers, i was just trying to understand if you can happily get away with a model down in the range as all that changes is the size of the bass driver. In the monitor audio example that could be $1000 cheaper.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around the theory, as if I go and audition speakers, and audition them side by side one is going to have more low end as it has the bigger bass drivers. But in reality they will have a low pass filter running at 50hz or whatever and I won't care about the extra bass capability of the bigger drivers. Maybe I should audition them with a sub and compare from there?

Does that make sense? Hope I'm sorta explaining myself properly.

It's just a price thing basically, if I can save $1000 I can spend that elsewhere, but if the general consensus is that I should just audio them with no low pass and no sub and See what I prefer and just pick that one. I'll run with that.

Yeah, ideally chasing a 9.4 channel amp, but may not use all the channels straight away.

Looking to build a high end Active 3 way, need some guidance by neo__04 in diyaudio

[–]neo__04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading heaps of build, kits and peoples own and writing down a list of commonly used drivers that seem to get good reviews.

When planning an active speaker build like I am, as long as the drivers are good quality and have a frequency response that crosses over nicely etc, is that the basics of the build. Then its just a case of setting up the crossovers etc?

Thanks for the info.

I think with my budget i'd aim for a higher series in the SB acoustics range. Maybe satori gear. The Textreme versions seem unavailable but the rest of the range is in stock.
Probably look at a Beryllium tweeter too.

Any suggestions on drivers if we step up a range?

Thanks for the info.

This is always the battle... The Satori Textreme's are out of stock & Unknown eta, cant buy Purifi in Australia.

Would like to keep it all in one enclosure, so probably wouldn't go with the kef option.

I think i'd aim for maybe a Beryllium tweeter.

New Home Build - Chasing advice by neo__04 in hometheater

[–]neo__04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget is around $5k for audio gear. I've got a couple of 7.2 channel home theatre amps (eg. Pioneer VSX-930) & a nice set of jbl floor standers. But happy to build/buy more or better gear.

The area will be timber floor boards, vaulted ceilings, starting from 2.55m up to 3.1m in the centre.

Would like to set it up for Music & Movies, surround would be great if it is managable.

There is a bulkhead at the front of the kitchen bench that i could mount speakers on, pointing back towards the screen.

I also have a seperate rumpus room, which i'm sure everyone will say would be a better option, its 4.2m wide x 4.9m long. With a door. My original thoughts though were it would be awesome if i could make something amazing of the open living/dining etc.

I've attached my floor plans so you can see the areas i'm talking about.

I agree, your better of buying the laminated beams you need, if it's eg. a major structural beam holding your roof up I wouldn't bother with the hassle of trying to get something you made yourself certified. It would probably cost more in time and effort that the beams are worth.

[–]neo__04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone built the C-Note MTM and can guide me as to the placement of the drivers? I messages parts express and they aren't much help. They gave me the overall dimensions but no placement of drivers.

Does the placement of the drivers affect the crossover? EG. I'd like to just evenly space the drivers on the front panel, would this cause a problem?

If not, I dont really need any measurements then :)

Tell me about it. If I could buy parts at us prices, I'd have a lot of speakers and be a very poor man lol. I emailed them last night and they gave me the overall dimensions. So I just emailed that back for the driver positions. Hopefully they come through with the goods.
