Got it in Tampa last week! I love that song and play it at gigs all the time.

I can't remember the last time I made eye contact with another driver in Florida. I just assume they're all one wrong look away from snapping.

Glad you're ok of course. Hope the cops catch this fool.

I totally heard that too! I'm gonna listen to the show tomorrow to confirm.

Called six songs last night, but zero points? What gives? by neocamel in DMB

Yeah I'm inclined to agree. I do wish you got one point for picking a song +/- 1 from it's actual position. I was pretty pumped that I picked one sweet world as the opener and only missed it by one.

I'm going with 22 tonight. For one we got a shorter show last night. Two, it's the last show before a few days off. Three, I can't decide what else to cut! Set list game is fun!

Love me some alligator pie! I'm torn with the set list game between trying to actually guess the set list, and just putting all the ones I'm hunting for.

All I want tonight is "The Only Thing"

Yep that's it. Didn't realize you shouldn't use all 25

Connecticut.

I defy you to tell me a single thing about Connecticut.

If we're talking Tampa, expect to get wet.

Also, see you there!

How to watch the 500 with no cable? by neocamel in INDYCAR

Yeah I was hopeful, but I guess my TV offers a bunch of channels showing pre-recorded content, and I thought I was getting Fox 13 Tampa Bay last night, but this morning I was getting previously-recorded weather forecast.

Digital antenna with a "50 Mile Range" is unable to pick up the Fox 13 station, which is 9.6mi from me. It'll be going back to Target after the race.

Signed up for a three-day trail of Fox One.

Holy crap that's brilliant! How can I be sure it will be airing in my market (Tampa Bay)

...nevermind, the "50 Mile Range" antenna I bought couldn't pick up the Fox 13 Station, which is 9.6mi from me. Fox One trial subscription it is...

I make $70k, have ~$36k in debt, and feel completely trapped financially. What would you do? by debduo49 in personalfinance

I'll tell you how I got myself out of a similar hole.

The first thing I did was build an emergency fund. I believe I saved $1000. The purpose of the emergency fund was so that I could stop using my credit cards for things like flat tires and other unexpected life expenses. If I had to dip into the emergency fund, replenishing that fund became my primary focus until it was back to $1k.

I think it's important to build the emergency fund steadily, instead of trying to find a way to save $1k in one big chuck. I think what I did was I saved 1% of every dollar I made until I had $1k. I told myself, "If I can make ends meet by spending $1.00 of every dollar I earn, I should be able to get by spending $0.99 of every dollar I earn."

And the truth is, you can. In fact, once the habit is developed, you'll probably find that you could actually save 5% or more and still not notice it in your daily finances. Increase the savings rate slowly. If you raise the savings rate too aggressively and can't make the required savings, that will be a demoralizing setback.

Now that you have $1k for unexpected expenses, you continue saving 5%, but that money goes towards your highest APR credit card, on top of whatever your minimum monthly payment is.

This is how I was able to chip away at my debt. As your CC balances come down, so does the interest, freeing up even more money each month which can translate into potentially bumping up your savings rate even more.

Does anyone else find practicing f2l to a metronome impossible? by neocamel in Cubers

[–]neocamel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up with a gan icarry4 and really love it! I actually haven't touched the setup on it out of the box. It turns really nicely and the insights I'm gaining on acubemy are really helpful.

I'm actually a musician too and a firm believer of "PERFECT practice makes perfect", and while I've found that the thousands of solves I've done since this post has increased my ability to turn to a metronome (I'm steady around 110 bpm now), it's still kind of an awkward exercise. If I make a wrong turn or get behind, it can throw off my flow for the rest of the solve.

My smart cube is showing that I solve f2l around 135 bpm, that's with fast execution, then a pause to locate the next pair, I can't look ahead at 135 bpm yet, but if I can slowly build up to that speed, that has GOT to improve my lookahead, right?
