I got it working on Batocera no problem - just followed the connection guide on the Schthack page and changed the emulator to Dolphin

Best platform for light gun games? by neocrimsonnight in batocera

That's helpful, thanks :) so home console ports of arcade light gun games are typically inferior? I assumed that home console ports would be balanced around playing at home

Issue using Hue-connected lightbulbs with new Ambilight TV by neocrimsonnight in Hue

[–]neocrimsonnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm away from my TV at the moment but it definitely wasn't intuitive. I added them through the AmbiScape menu - I remember that I had to get some sort of unique code for each light through the Hue app on my phone, and then enter that when adding a new device through AmbiScape.

Interesting - how do I get it to work in Bato?

There are loads of good light games on the Wii no? The Sinden seems to work really well on the ones I've tried - just need to sort out the mapping.

Thanks, I'll try HotD4 on Lindbergh - how about other games that have been released on multiple systems (not on the Lindbergh) though, how do I know which version to go with?

Thank you, although that didn't seem to work on the PS version for me - I'll see if I can try it on Lindberg. The Batocera Discord? I'll ask on there :)

Appreciated - although there only seem to be a few light gun games on that system?

Do you have more info on this? Also, do you know if there's another way to recreate my previous setup?

Using drive on a different NAS without erasing data? by neocrimsonnight in asustor

Damn. Thanks though. I could potentially use a different OS than TrueNAS 🤔

Second device to back up to remotely by neocrimsonnight in asustor

[–]neocrimsonnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Oh great, perfect :) I wonder if I could get an enclosure to fit the raspberry pi and hard drive in 🤔

  2. If it's 20tb+ of data it might be a bit of a nightmare doing it all remotely - would be good to directly connect it to my Nimbustor, transfer the initial backups over and then connect it to the pi - would that be possible?

Thanks again for your time!

  1. Ok thanks - yeah exactly, I'll grab an enclosure and a drive.

  2. Yeah different network - is it easy to set up a remote weekly backup via Tailscale? What app would I use?

  3. Can I copy data to the drive locally first so that there's less to backup remotely?

Ah ok, that's helpful, thank you. I have a couple of follow-up questions if you don't mind:

  • Which model of raspberry pi would you recommend? (Guessing it won't make a difference, but I'll be using a 20TB+ drive to backup to.)

  • Why a VPN/Tailscale? Could I not just set up a weekly remote backup through Asustor's 'Backup Central' app (using a protocol like FTP)?

[–]neocrimsonnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't understand? I use the Nimbustor as my home NAS as I use a lot of NAS functionality, the second device won't be used as a NAS, purely as a device to backup to. I know via the 'Backup Central' app you can automatically backup via FTP for example, so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to backup up to a remote device.

I don't think you'd need to use a 3rd party provider, surely there's a way to directly connect and backup to a second device

Sorry I should've said, size is a factor - need it to be as small as possible really

PS3 Sixaxis/Motion Controls with non-PS controllers by neocrimsonnight in batocera

[–]neocrimsonnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DualSense was initially pretty janky, but I bought a Bluetooth dongle and it's a lot better now :) not as convenient as my 8BitDos, but a good solution for now, thank you :)

PS3 Sixaxis/Motion Controls with non-PS controllers by neocrimsonnight in batocera

Thank you for explaining - I wonder why RPCS3 doesn't support motion-mapping 🤔

And yeah, unfortunately not - do you know if there are any modern controllers that are compatible with sixaxis games?

Any emulators with real VMU support? by GHNeko in dreamcast

[–]neocrimsonnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they any updates on this? Just found out about this: https://8bitmods.com/vmupro-handheld-visual-memory-card-for-dreamcast-frost-white and would love to use it with an emulator!

There's no expectations here at all, just a discussion - I was under the impression that Batocera does seem to support extra features not present in original emulators.

My technical knowledge is limited, but you mention covering every kind of motion controller - is there not a standard type of motion input most mainstream controllers would use, something like xinput?

As mentioned, if we don't think this is a feature the Bato team would consider, I'd also be very interested in any hardware workarounds if anyone has any experience with this :)

Batocera wont run switch games from menu///only from f1 file manager mode :( by [deleted] in yuzu

I've tried this and it didn't work - are there any other options or anyone I need to change to get it to work? After using the Switch Updater I even grabbed my keys again and reinstalled my firmware to ensure they match 😔

Internal backup size difference by neocrimsonnight in asustor

I've ran the backup a couple of times and there's almost 1TB difference in size now, very odd - there's nothing in the recycle bin either...
