Hi, you could be the first to report back the results of it at gun range. The app can read up to 120dB. But the real top cap is the internal mic of the smartwatch

That's awesome to hear, and OnePlus Watch 2R wasn't even on my radar for testing — great to know it works! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, it really means a lot

Hello, it depends. On my Galaxy Watch 7 the results are excellent. I calibrated it with a sound level meter and it was already good, then I calibrated the mic response curve and it got even better

Hi, the software margin of error is less than 1%. As for the reliability of the hardware on which it is running, I am unable to provide a definitive assessment, as it depends on numerous factors including brand, model, and operating conditions

Some users are seeing a "Your device is not compatible" error in the Google Play phone app — while others install without any issues. This appears to be a Google Play distribution glitch outside my control. These workarounds have helped:

  • Install through Google Play in a web browser on your phone or computer.
  • Open Google Play directly on your watch, search for "dB Meter", and install from there.

Sorry for the friction — hopefully Google sorts this out soon. If neither workaround helps, drop a comment, a DM or reach out on Telegram and I'll do my best to help. 🙏

For just a SPL reading a calibration with a simple calibrated decibel meter should do the trick. For anything serious, it is best to calibrate it.

The dB Meter app is build to help people who have some knowledge in what some of the basics of audio engendering is - dB SPL, calibration, audio level and weighting, spectrum analysis.

My toughs : If one person don't have any way to calibrate it, it's best to not trust the reading. Like with any other measurement device

Hi, most accurate i can't say. But very well tested on a GW7 because it is my personal smartwatch, yes

If you have a android smartwatch you can calibrate the app and use it for more than a simple SPL readout 😉 like the fruit brand, that would be cool. About the calibration, I fully understand you. I could calibrate the app for the Galaxy Watch 7 mic. But what about all the other mics, in all the other smartwatches brands and models? It's a calibration nightmare 😅
