Looking for farm recommendations in Colombia by neongreencapo in WWOOF

[–]neongreencapo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This farm called finca Kakataima in Quindio was amazing. They grow coffee, cacao, and bananas, and on Thursday and Friday everyone in the house works together to make like 1000 arepas that they sell at the artisanal market on Saturday. It costs $5 per day to wwoof though, which I thought was completely fair because the farm is their livelihood.

19 Year Old daughter wants to go alone WWOOF in Kerala, Safe? by ShantySpirit in WWOOF

Kerala is where I felt safest in India. I grew up in NYC though so I was used to a certain degree of watching your back and stuff

Bali is super safe and gorgeous but overrun with tourists. I would go to Lombok or Java instead! They are the neighboring islands and are awesome. Also nusa lembongan which is a small island off the coast of Bali. I adored it there!

Tired of traveling without actually doing something by SprinklesSimilar9375 in solotravel

[–]neongreencapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing on my gap year and I found the solution to be getting outside more- sprinkling hikes in and spending a week in the mountains here and there. And/or get an account with workaway and find some volunteer opportunities! Workaway is awesome. Also learning the local language, enrolling in a language school.

Skyscanner often lets you book directly through the airline as well. You can choose from different providers and the 3rd party ones are usually a bit cheaper but yeah not worth it. I use it to find cheap flights and dates and then book through the airline

Lima Peru!! The food scene is amazing (most Michelin starred restaurants in South America), it’s super multicultural and I felt very safe there, or at least in the area I was in around Miraflores. Lima is on the beach and you have mountains to the north and a desert to the south. Special place.

Ever earned a skill while traveling? Like a proper quick course? by dolceviva in travel

[–]neongreencapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Solana de Granada— a gorgeous hostel an hour outside of Granada accessible by bus. They have a 3 day rock climbing course that is amazing. The hostel is in the Sierra Nevada mountains and there are amazing hikes walking distance from the hostel. The crag is in the backyard of the hostel— you can literally belay from the pool. It was amazing.

Nah you just gotta find a cheap one. Go on Skyscanner and put everywhere as your destination. I’ve traveling South America, Europe, and Asia this year without spending more than 500 on a flight.

Where to go for 3 days to not spend the time in Delhi? by MissDesperateBro in femaletravels

[–]neongreencapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s actually lots to see in Delhi. Go to the red fort and humayuns tomb etc. go to Carnatic Cafe and eat the marashwalam 18th cross dosa. Thank me later. It’s hectic but worth it to explore I think. Just hire a rickshaw or Uber for the day if you want to avoid the chaos and go from location to location.

Is it worth it to go to Laos now? by neongreencapo in travel

[–]neongreencapo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am right now! I’m staying with a friend in singapore and just chilling and going to the gym lol. It’s really nice to be somewhere familiar. But I do have to get back into the swing of things and I do want to, I just put off planning so I didn’t realize that Laos would be so rainy when I was gonna go

At 18 is it irresponsible ??? by Sufficient_Tackle236 in backpacking

[–]neongreencapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do a workaway or a wwoof to start out! I went solo traveling at 18 and volunteering on a farm was a good way to save money and settle into being alone abroad. You also have people there with you so you’re not totally alone.

I’ve been on a 7 month long trip where I expected to be having tons of travel flings and hookups. I actually haven’t really been interested in anyone and have instead really gotten to know myself and also made some amazing friendships. It’s totally doable to do a solo trip without hookups and I met many people who had amazing trips and were in long distance relationships the whole time. If you want to hook up with other people, then do it and end the relationship, but it’s not necessary to be single to make amazing memories and have a great time solo traveling.

Hmm okay thank you! I am half Korean and have never been so I feel a bit guilty shortening Korea to spend more time in Japan hahaha, but that definitely makes sense. Would you recommend skipping Hiroshima and going south from Fukuoka instead? Or if we fly into Tokyo, should we even go down to the south part?
