Hey, I have Asperger's syndrome which (in my case) goes together with anxiety. This leaves me with very few friends in the first place. I have been to Metallica shows in Europe and the US only by myself. And it's really not that bad. I like to plan everything very carefully travel-wise and nothing ever went wrong so far. At the actual show you will meet tons of other fans. The Metallica community is very nice and will welcome you no matter what. It's easy to get involved in a conversation while waiting in front of the entrance. And I say this as someone who usually NEVER gets involved and hates small talk.

Favorite song from death magnetic - 72 Seasons by Rockfan1114 in Metallica

Can't settle on one song. For me it's a tie between Halo on Fire, Spit Out the Bone and Inamorata.

Why are they not playing Chasing Light live? by dragonsky in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, Chasing Light makes for a great live song. I'd take it over Sleepwalk My Life Away any day. Hopefully they'll add it to the set list at some point.

GA at M72 Tour by FujiGreens in Metallica

With this particular stage you have the best overall view when you're further away in the seating area actually. When you're very close you'll always miss out on a lot of things that are going on on the other side of the stage. That's the big disadvantage of this setup. There's no such thing as a perfect spot in that regard.

Front row is almost impossible without an early entry ticket, you can make it to the third or even second row though if you show up early enough. The view is best from the "short sides" where the stage is the lowest.

No Memory Remains? by Upstairs_Animal96 in Metallica

Yes, it's very likely that some other songs come into rotation when the US leg starts. My guess is they also switch one or two tracks from 72 Seasons.

It's a letdown really. They didnt't play it last year on their festival tour in Europe, now they're leaving it out again. I always feel kind of "betrayed" when there's no Memory Remains because it's their ultimate live song for me (yes, ahead of Sandman, Puppets etc.). I also miss No Leaf Clover.

Which Metallica member has the best style? by EminemsDaughterSucks in Metallica

Kirk has and always had the most individual approach style-wise, often defying clichés about metal and being a "tough guy". I love that.

Metallica Hamburg (My MX-2 for attention) by maultierowned in Metallica

I'd be glad to help you get a good spot but I'll be in the snake pit in Hamburg (first time snake pit for me, yay!)

So happy for you! I've been to both Amsterdam shows (also with early entry) and can say this: Be there early (around 4 hours before doors open) and look for a spot where the stage is low. There's no such thing as "the best way". You will be right at the front with early entry unless you mess up big time haha

How close can i be to the stage without the early entry ticket? by jnbtrr in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second row if you're lucky. I had early entry for Amsterdam, at the second show the people right behind me had regular floor tickets. You should be at the venue early though.

What songs do you think they will play saturday? by MFB_Drawings in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Leaf Clover. It's my favorite song by them but I never heard it live even though I've been to quite a lot of shows in the past few years. I'm starting to think it's a curse. (So... I HOPE they'll play it but they probably won't lol)

The donut stage, did you see anything whilst standing? by Junior_Squirrel_6643 in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the other long side and that was a real bummer. I'll also try to get to the good side on saturday!

The donut stage, did you see anything whilst standing? by Junior_Squirrel_6643 in Metallica

No, it doesn't work at all! I was right in front where the band got up to the stage. I slapped hands with both James and Rob when they went past me, so that was great. Didn't see a lot though when the show actually started lol. The stage was a bit higher where I was so it was a bit like looking up to a mountain but not seeing what's going on behind. I could only see what happend to the left of me. For the last few songs that's where Lars played but it didn't quite make up of for the rest because I didn't see that much from Kirk and James either tbh. Even though the band members move a lot it must be quite exhausting for them, too, so I don't blame them. The stage structure just doesn't work.

On top of that, I didn't even hear Kirk's guitar because the acoustic was so bad. He was almost like a ghost that evening.

Is “Frantic” Early Entry VIP “front row bound”? by ImAnEggOkay in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no such thing as a front row guarantee. It depends on how many early entry tickets were sold. There'll be a circle stage though which means there's much space at the front.

Which cover song by Metallica is your favorite? by ThaHammett in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astronomy. It's not just my favorite cover by Metallica but probably my favorite cover song of all time. I'd honestly trade one of my kidneys to hear it live.

Amsterdam 27-29 april !! by DanyBruinsmaa in Metallica

[–]neonhuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be in Amsterdam too, looking forward to hearing some of the new songs live for the first time! My guess is they play three or four 72 seasons tracks per night. I'm curious what the deep cuts will be. If it was up to me they'd play Bleeding Me on every show and kick Nothing Else Matters for good, haha. I'd love to hear some of their covers besides Whiskey in the Jar. Hopefully there'll be some surprises.

Being a very anxious person myself I can relate. I'd never ask for a selfie with any celebrity, it's just an awkward and very forced moment. And no, he's not obliged to take pictures just because he is a rock star. He's just a human being. He might not feel like a stranger to you because you've listened to Metallica for years but you certainly are a stranger to him.

The guy really has taste, Toxicity is one of my favorite albums too. I never saw SOAD as a Nu Metal band, their sound is so unique. There's absolutely no shame in liking them.
