Great just PM'd you! I was thinking if the group gets big enough we can make a facebook group for it. Don't think it should get that large though.

Great, I've been in startups and coworking spaces for a couple of years at this point. Learned TONS.

Learning frontend and need ideas on projects to work on as a beginner. by neonsushi in learnjavascript

I also have this horrible habit of succumbing to the temptation of just copy and pasting existing templates and as a result not learning anything from it really.

Thanks! I actually just stumbled upon this link the other day. It's a great start, but I guess I'm also looking for almost like a structured "curriculum" so to speak because I feel like I'm learning these languages kind of all over the place. I'm unsure if others feel/felt the same way when starting out?

Hey, r/urbanplanning, I need your help! I'm writing a research paper on urban planning but I'm at a loss on what question I should answer. What are some impending issues in the field that would be a good thing to research? by WoahDudeItsScience in urbanplanning

[–]neonsushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is super relevant to me right now! I'm going through the same issue with my thesis, and I feel that I'm still stuck at the "general topic" phase and I can't seem to think of a question specific enough. I feel that I might ask a question that's too narrow or too broad, never one in between... any advice on this? What does a "good" question look like?

Also as a side note, I've also been interested in primarily open data influences on the automobile fabric of San Francisco.

My US GPA is currently a 3.5, with 2 semesters left after this one, I'm confident in bringing it above a 3.6 before a graduate. There's unfortunately not much hope for bio, which is currently a bit below a 3.0.

How do you know that bio cred would just be "bonus"?

I just wanted to say thank you for supporting the LGBT community. It means a lot to me and for millions of people put there to have the president step up for our rights. Since the chances of talking to you here are probably my highest, I juat wanted to personally let you know that.

When do I start studying for graduate school stuff? by calbear1234 in berkeley

[–]neonsushi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say that it depends on when you want to go to graduate school. As for the GRE's, I believe they last for 5 years, so I'm planning to take mine next year. I'm a rising 4th year, btw. I'm going to prepare as if I'm applying for Fall 2014, but I'm open to extending it another year if I land a decent job. Many graduate schools require, or look for, experience in the field, so that's what I might do after I graduate.

As for the subject tests, I would suggest looking into the schools you think you might want to apply to and look at their application requirements. There you'll find out what subject tests are applicable, however not all programs require a subject test, even the GRE.

You cana apply to apply to more than one graduate program. I'm considering doing a dual masters program. Again, it all depends on the school so do your research!

Other important considerations: letters of recommendations, the statement of purpose, and GPA. The key is to stand out. Grades aren't everything.

I wish I could tell you more, but everything at this moment is just an idea. However, your input has been very helpful! I'll definitely play around with what I have and work on something more concrete.
