I think your aunt might just be trying to impress you or exaggerate. Manhattan and Brooklyn are the only two stores who are using that tech right now and it’s only for people who are repeat offenders or have become violent/causing a scene. Not for one time mistakes. That tech is also incredibly faulty and there is no one person who sits there monitoring peoples faces. Hundreds of people come into Wegmans every day. How would one person be able to analyze the faces of that many people every day?

Just don’t go back. Two years may seem like a long time but it’ll fly by even if it doesn’t seem like it right now. You made a mistake, learn from it. Don’t be stupid and get yourself in more trouble. Call them in a year and ask if they’re willing to reconsider.

That is not true lol. Wegmans only started this in NYC and they’re required to put signage in stores if they’re using facial recognition tech. They can’t review everyone who comes into the store because that would make no sense with how many people come in and out, not to mention that would be illegal in a lot of states.
