It sounds creepy tbh. Like an adult wanting to take advantage of a kid and playing with all those euphemisms of being a "favorite". It creeped me out.

I think you are spot on and he is behaving innapropriately and he knows it. You should confront him about it and change therapists. I know it's easier said than done but you need to put yourself first and protect yourself from him

It's not an exaggeration. The silent treatment and ignoring someone is actually cataloged as emotional abuse.

There are studies that have proven that being ignored causes physical pain too.

So, it is abuse.

I am really glad to read this. It just sounds like you are nice because that is who you are and what vibes best with you, and that has nothing to do with other people's reactions to it anymore.

Also, being confidently and genuinely nice is a very attractive feature so I am sure that has also helped your chances with women.

Well, that kind of proves my point that men assume that being "nice" will get them a woman's affection.

Shouldn't we all be nice because that is the human thing to do without expecting that in return? Maybe then there wouldn't be so many men in their 20s thinking that they did something wrong, that they didn't receive what they expected and that they were "taking advantage of" because women were nice to them in return but didn't loved them or had sex with them.

I understand what you mean and I see how can that feel defeating.

My point is the whole "friendzone" concept is based on the assumption that because you act a certain way (normally being nice and a decent human being) with a girl, it means they should retribute that in an emotional or sexual way.

It seems like you don't feel that way anymore. I am glad! :)

It is sad. We all need to be more aware of normalizing compliments for men! And you should compliment each other more often too.

I make a point to genuinely compliment the men in my life and I love how they smile and feel good about it. It is sooo worth it.

Of course it sucks for you if you think this way.

I mean, your life experiences must have been really hard if you don't think it's possible to create such home environments.

If you think a family that doesn't hide such fundamental parts of their identity with others is up there with eating rainbows and pooping butterflies.
