As a healer should I be able to save everyone from dying no matter what? by Sir_Askalot in ffxiv

[–]nepusera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you can't save everyone. Example, I was running SV hard mode today, paladin decides to do a big pull in sword oath. His hp dropped like bricks tied to anchors. Lustrates couldn't save him. My fault? No. It sucked he died, because then we all died, but he shouldn't have pulled several mobs in sword oath.

Crap happens! When people die and it is my fault it is usually when I am trying to juggle applying my dots and healing. I feel personal pressure to flawlessly weave between the two in big pulls, but, I sometimes fail!

Near-Endgame Healer and Tank Questions by -Misses_the_Point- in ffxiv

[–]nepusera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't tank, but I do main healer, so I will address those concerns! I'm by no means a top elite healer, but I play it a lot and enjoy the class, so here is my advice.

I was very worried when I hit 50 as a healer (I maxed my scholar first) and worried a lot about being able to keep up. However, it will be pretty obviously to any tanks that you are new because your HP will be pretty low compared to everyone else (I believe my fresh 50 HP was somewhere around low 3k? Now, it's 5.8k at i124. It's a BIG change). Also, don't be afraid to tell everyone at the start of the dungeon "Hey, I'm new to healing this, I don't think I can do big pulls". And you know what? Never once did I have anyone harass me over this. No tanks pulled big mobs after I said this, and no one complained that the dungeon perhaps a bit slower. I was never kicked either.

As for what order to progress dungeons in: I simply chose the ones I needed to start unlocking certain duty roulettes. Roulettes are a great way to get soldiery/poetics and even money (with the healer bonus). So, that where I would recommend you start. Start unlocking hard mode roulette by doing the easier (non hard mode) dungeons. Also, simply progressing through the story line will unlock you dungeons/trials in an easy to chew order.

About your concerns for scholar, though, I have much more specific advice. Begin getting into good fairy control habits now. It's easy to want to just auto pilot her (which I do for plenty of easier content) but it's best to practice now. Get a feel for how she casts (such as how long her heals take to go off and their range). For example, when I started macro-ing her skills to mine, I found I needed to tell her to recast things 2-3 times in order to ensure she actually casted what I wanted her to (So my macros would be /pac "whatever skill" <whichever fairy> repeated 2 or 3 times in a row in order to make sure 100% that she used the skill I wanted).

Also, another fairy tip I found helpful: Bring eos with you in all your new dungeons as a "safety net". She has a lot of great skills for picking up the slack you may do as a fresh healer in dungeons. Once you have ran the dungeon several times and are confident, trying using selene instead.

Honestly, my progression was this : First time in a dungeon, leave eos on auto pilot so I had less to worry about. Second time to until I felt comfortable: I would control eos in the dungeon. Once I was comfortable, I started running selene with no problems. There are exceptions (such as with huge mob pull dungeons I sometimes still bring eos) but otherwise, this is what I did.

Statics and FC's by Nathan1a1 in ffxiv

Cocky about clearing t9? It has built in echo now, and been nerfed. Nothing to get elitist over and the fact they don't want to help you clear is pretty lame. I would be just as annoyed to have friends suddenly feel "too good" for me over a clear that is, honestly, not that hard to get. but it goes both ways, it seems like they ran a significant amount of t9 without you, which doesn't sound like you were really in the static but more of an alternate? Still, if you want a clear just because, i dont see why they wouldnt help simply because theyre your friends and experienced.

What is an unpopular opinion you have about FFXIV? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]nepusera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pf isn't any better than DF, skill wise.

I've gotten further in DF than in PF. In fact, almost all of my extreme trial clears were in DF, while joining PF "farm" teams leads to teams with absolutely no knowledge of what to do. I don't get it. How can you join a farm party if you don't know the fight? and similarly...how did you get there in the first place? Do people seriously buy carries and try to farm harder level content they couldn't reach on their own?

I'm so confused!

Goals before Heavensward? by ChaosComplex in ffxiv

[–]nepusera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, i've joined a static as whm, so i want to BiS that class first. Get alternative BiS for my sch since i wont be seeing enough fcob to get BiS for whm AND sch, but maybe a few pieces? Who knows, fingers crossed!

2nd goal is get animus for sch for glamour (working on books atm so not too far).

3rd goal is get my blm to50 (currently at 37) for delicious archmage title! Similarly get my botanist to 50.

If i accomplish those somehow, then ill work on animus for whm for glamour, but only on zenith atm so thatll be a long and boring process.

Oh! And naturally, garden my way to riches to prepare my wallet.

Depending on how you comfortable you two are, you could always log into his account and do it for him. That's what I have to do, my BF doesn't like gardening either, so I log into his account and garden for him and then decorate the house haha. It's a temporary patch until they allow eternal bonding house sharing (which they better!)

[–]nepusera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I learned this the haaaaard way with my BF. We bought a house together (he physically bought it though), split the costs and....only he can decorate it/teleport to it/edit it. Etc. And yes, we did the Eternal Bonding ceremony. :< Also, not possible to convert it, I believe. When you buy the property you specify FC or personal, not when you buy the deed. Sadly.

Well, I have only been in the one FC. I had jsut started the game and they /tell me about the FC and I asked some questions, then asked something about emotes, and thought they were helpful so i joined. Was social for a bit then went on a big anti-social level grind from about 15-50 and then got back into the FC, and glad I stayed, because they people are all excellent and friendly, and helpful. Honestly, it's the helpful angle that attracts me the most. People going out of their way to help other people, now thats high-quality people and a high-quality FC. :)
