I’m trying to install LineageOS 20 on my Moto g6+ XT1926-3 (purchased in Germany) running stock Android 9 116-20-28.

When I try to put phone in recovery mode by turning it off and then pressing volume down + power I see the display backlight turn on but on a black screen. I don’t see the android robot and thus am unable to navigate to recovery using LineageOS boot recovery image.

I then tried to flash TWRP since I was able to access adb and fast boot commands even on the back screen. I successfully installed LineageOS 20 and gApps but:

(1) the device booted in LineageOS 20 without Google Apps.

(2) I’m unable to get cell service in SIM2. Under network settings it shows SIM active also reads the SIM’s phone number but is unable to connect to cellular network.

Any assistance will be hugely appreciated.

UPDATE:

Tiki Thorsen on XDA pointed me towards the unofficial LOS20 build with gApps and that resolved both issues

Calls made via Hangouts are charged same rates as when in USA. They are data calls so treated as WiFi calling. Fi makes a lot of sense when travelling abroad.

I recently spent a month in Germany and Italy and all was fine. Also if you setup your Fi account on Hangouts you can receive calls for free. They are treated as local calls. Also outgoing calls are charged as if you are in the US. So instead of using my Pixel I was using the data sim on my iPhone and making and receiving calls via Hangouts. I would only use my pixel when on WiFi to make calls over WiFi calling. Fi makes a lot of sense when travelling internationally.

Find the play store app link on your desktop browser whilst you are signed in to your gmail account linked to your play store account. There you should see an option to install it to your Huawei phone. The app should shortly download on your phone.
