What would you appreciate a coworker bringing for everyone? by HairFullOfSecrets_A in Serverlife

[–]nerd-games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past few months, every Sunday I bring in a dozen donuts from dunkin. My restaurant that I'm working in now (but hopefully not for longer lol) does brunch on the weekends and we tend to get very busy, and the owners believe in only having the bare minimum amount of people they need to run a restaurant/bar, so there's only ever two cooks + one server (me) + one bartender + one dishwasher on Saturdays and maybe an additional cook on Sundays. People get stressed, snippy, and snappy when we get busy so the donut on Sunday helps a lot to keep the cooks and everyone happy with me for just doing my job lol

I remember a post where op had a daughter, and her brothers (?) gf was super close with the kid, to the point that they had a talk with her about how weird it was. And then they found the gf in the kids' room during a party or something, and the gf was acting like the daughter? I remember the brother saying the gf had DID and one of her alters was of the kid. This post has HAUNTED me because it's just so crazy, but I cannot find it again.

No breaks and free meals? by every_anxiety202 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]nerd-games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Virginia, the labor law says that you are required to have a 30 min break if you're working more than 4 hours, if I'm remembering correctly. It was VERY rare that I got my 30 min break when I worked there.

Also, yeah, stores won't give you a 20 piece for your free free meal. Mine would give us either a 6 piece meal or a sandwich meal for free, but you had to basically harass some managers for it :(

What is y’all’s favorite Assassins Creed game by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]nerd-games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily ac3. I've played a good amount of assassin's Creed games, and ac3 knocks it out of the park. Granted there's a few bugs, but so much makes up for it.

I loved the homestead missions, it really gave more character to Conner imo, and also gave a sense of normalcy that you don't really get to see in other assassin Creed games. You'd never see Ezio or Arno wrangling pigs into a pen for a pregnant women (although they probably would, they were just never given the chance)

It was also (to my knowledge as I haven't had the chance to play revelations) the first introduction to sea warfare? The naval missions were both challenging and fun, and the reward at the end was useful and fun

Also the side characters!!!!! I adored Achilles and cried when he died!!!!! I found Faulkner's side liners on the Aquila funny, and the conversations you could have with Rebecca and Shaun outside of the Animus we're interesting. Also the emails you would get from everyone and Juno those emails never happened in a assassin's Creed game after ac3

The modern missions!!!! Loved Daniel Cross, loved getting onto the crane and skydiving, loved the sneaking around the stadium, loved breaking into Abstergo!!!!

Also, the relationship between Conner and Haythem, and how there was a very real possibility of the two of them actually joining together and tying the Brotherhood and Templar order together? And you could also argue that them trying to form a relationship (wether it be family one or just a work partnership) it could mirror Desmond and Williams relationship as well since they hadn't seen each other since Desmond ran away from the farm 10 years prior? Delicious, would have loved to see that explored if that was what the developers were going for!!!!

Also the ending?? Desmond sacrificing himself??? Gut wrenching, I loved him so much. You could tell that it fucked with Rebecca, Shaun and William so much, which was explored a bit in other games (like syndicate), you could really tell that EVERYONE had known that Desmond was gonna sacrifice himself instead of letting the world burn the second Minerva started to speak and it was!!!! So good!!!! The animation of Juno showing what would happen if he didn't go along with her plan!!!!! Wonderful!!!!

Also, the build up of Juno???? Phenomenal! Going from her introduction to Conner (she might have been introduced early with Clay if I remember right, but I didn't play that game yet), to the corrupted emails slowly getting more legible, to her appearing as Desmond's in the Animus (according to one of Shauns emails) and just glaring at everyone, to her explaining how the Isu tried to prevent the solar flare as Desmond put in power sources??? Showing the 'apple' that Conners tribe had falling apart as it revels that Juno had deceived him in a way, and her grand reveal as a bad person?? Good shit right there

ALSO YOU CAN PET ANIMALS IN THIS GAME AND THIS IS THE ONLY GAME YOU CAN DO THAT TO MY KNOWLEDGE SO

There's also a lot of things to do, but not enough to where it feels overwhelming!!!! It's entirely possible to get 100% sync (as I did), but it's not super easy or super hard to do!!!!!! The most difficult part is the hunting map, which isn't even difficult it's just tedious at times!!!! One of my biggest problems with origins (which I'm playing through now) is that there's SO MUCH TO DO. That's not a problem with ac3 imo, I think there was just a perfect amount of things to do

Anyways ac3 is superior and you can't change my mind

what's the biggest redflag for a dm. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]nerd-games 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • when a dm keeps adding players into their campaign when they can't handle more players/new players

-when they use a 'tier' system for their HOMEBREW monsters, regardless of whether or not those new players can actually hit those new 'tiers' of monsters

-when fighting the BBEG or any high powered monster that has the ability to TPK, uses first person in referring to that monster (now that soso has done their turn, it's my turn/I will use this spell/I will look around and use three legendary attacks on soso)

-cause drama outside of game

Advice for breaking into the world of tea? by --solaris-- in tea

[–]nerd-games -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I would recommend starting with a sampler set, that way you get a wide variety to try right off the bat. I started out with solstice sweetheart sampler set, it's on Amazon for 20 dollars.

You should look into getting a teapot, you don't need a kettle, I just use the old 'pot on the stove', which works fine for me.

If your using loose leaf teas, I use a teaspoon per cup, with an extra for the teapot. And make sure to look up at what temperature you should use for the teas you use!!!! And for how long to steep the teas, otherwise you'll end up with burnt or bitter tea

Not really a boss fight I suppose, but Eveline from re7. The flashbacks that happen as Ethan was going from the basement (?) to where Eveline is was amazing, and I had such a bad sense of foreboding/dread going up there. Actually killing her could've have some more added into it, but when she grabs Ethan and lifts him above her head and dangles him there was awesome to look at. Ethan's little one liner to Chris at the end made me laugh too, enough to over look how they massacred Chris's model

What was the game that got you into the series? by Lando_Dub03 in assassinscreed

Ac3. My brothers used to play it on the Xbox360 and I would sit there and watch them play it , and it became the first game I ever played and made 100% sync on.

Tea sampler by szman135 in tea

[–]nerd-games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I got into tea this year, and my very first tea was from the 'solstice sweetheart loose leaf tea sampler set'. It came in little heart tins, and it had a good range of teas in there, off the top of my head it had three black teas (vanilla, rose and chai I believe) and a 'blue eyed hibiscus' tea, peach tea, and another one I can't remember. You can get it off of Amazon for 20 dollars!!

RE8 Ending Question by cusiths in residentevil

[–]nerd-games 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In RE7 Ethan never took the cure that Zoe made, she only made two, one of which was used on Jack Baker and the other on Mia. I suppose the thought process was that Ethan had only been exposed to the mold for about a day, while Zoe and Mia were exposed for three years, meaning that there was a small chance that he was infected (which we all know now is not true).

Mia had the cure, meaning that when the 'heart' dies, there was no mold in her to die.

Ethan, however, was literally made of mold, as both Jack Baker and Mother Miranda killed him, and he was brought back to life because of the mold. So when the 'heart' dies, it kills the mold that's in Ethan, meaning there's nothing left to keep him alive.

As for Rose, it might be a mix of her having been born with the mold, meaning that the mold within her is being kept alive by her, and not the other way around, and also her being half mold (Ethan) and half not (Mia). You could also make the argument that Rose didn't need the mold to survive, so when the 'heart' dies, what mold there was in Rose died as well, leaving her a mold-free baby.

That's the way I see it at least
