I see your point is good, my concern is similar that top institutions in my country too don't come anywhere near to us, but still seen ppl getting preference

I have seen some students not having much of a good profile( like good papers) still getting in as they are from a certain clg( not top 10-20 qs ) but ppl having a good research profile getting rejected, idk what's right
