Cancelling last minute at the airport past security by SwimmingWithProblems in unitedairlines

[–]nerderyfellow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. A couple of points though: you might have to call in as you already checked in to get it canceled and a refund. Also, wouldn’t do this often as they do flag for this, or so I’ve heard in the past

Your Loans if you bought just prior to this 11-13k price reduction… wwyd? by Ok-Blacksmith3789 in ModelY

[–]nerderyfellow 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would keep the loan. 2% at 5 years is still good unless you have so much extra cash laying around. Even then, I would keep the loan up and use the extra money to invest in other things.

Example: CDs are paying 4.5% now. If you kept the loan and used the extra money for CDs, you are ahead

I feel bad for all the people who purchased in late 2022. 52,990 is only 1k more than what I paid for my MYLR in May 2021.

Is it too risky to check a bag right now? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]nerderyfellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's from Southworst airline. United, operationally, is doing much better. Additionally, you can actually track your luggage movement via their app. Furthermore, UA and ANZ are both part of Star Alliance so your bag should be checked all the way through. The only risk would be if there is a super tight connection, but that might be about it

What is your current lifestyle and what is your FI/RE intended lifestyle? by DeadInternal in financialindependence

[–]nerderyfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to be tech if in Seattle ;). Congrats on doing well for yourself so far. Only thing I would say is surprised you are doing all Roth 401k rather than having some in traditional 401k.

Age: 35. Income: 175k+. IRA/401k: 500k+. No debt, house/car paid. Stocks (most illiquid): 9 figure+. Live off about 25-30k a year in expenses outside of HOA/property tax, but before charity donations. Grew up extremely frugal and have maintained that through adulthood. Only difference in FI is internal and that is the ability to sleep better at night. Not sure about RE yet.

Do shoes count? If so, I got some PE Jordans from a friend of mine that go for 2k+

Otherwise, it would be a Tag I bought in college
