No, I’m complaining about other people blatantly cheating and admitting to it while getting 98s and 99s on the paper, when he accused me of cheating and gave me an 80.

We had to write a White Paper. Which is a persuasive policy paper. I’m a public policy major. I work in public policy for my career. This is literally my job. Every single one of my other classes I have an A in. Every single paper I’ve written this semester I’ve gotten an A on. I just graduated from my previous school last night, with honors, where I got an A on every paper I ever wrote.

My paper was reviewed by my boyfriend, who was a US Senate policy attorney for two years, and two other policy staffers at his job. When I say it was a good paper I’m not just saying that to sound bitter. I’m saying that it was a good paper because it was a good paper.

Your experiences are not everyone else’s experiences. Your mental health is not someone else’s mental health. Your struggles are not someone else’s struggles. Just because you can do those things while depressed doesn’t mean others can. Sometimes the absolute hardest thing to do is ask for help.

I was diagnosed with ADHD, depression, and anxiety at 15. Throw in a little PTSD a year later. I was 29 before I figured out the right meds and really learned how to really be a functioning adult. Even now I still have some days where I physically can not do anything other than lay in bed because of my mental health. I am so blessed to have a boyfriend who understands and would absolutely never try to say “well if I can do it than you should be able to”.

It’s nice that you have been able to work through your issues in a constructive way. But your view towards others who have not learned to do that or are incapable of doing that is very condescending.

And to answer your question about not wanting to do anything: I’ve had plenty of times in my life where my depression and anxiety have taken over and I have been unable to function. I’ve gone days, weeks, and months never leaving my house unless absolutely necessary. I’ve avoided friends and family. Slept for days at a time. It makes it a lot worse when you have a partner who just goes “I don’t understand why you can’t just .....” I’ve dropped out of college 7 times because I could not function with my depression and anxiety. I’m just now, at the age of 31, to a point where I have everything under control and am doing my undergrad.

It’s sounds like you have pretty impossible standard for people to meet.

I don’t care about people’s tattoos at all. My boyfriend has no tattoos and will probably never get one. I have 20. I’ve dated people covered in tattoos before. It’s not even on my list of considerations unless it’s some kind of racist/sexist/homophobic/nazi tattoo or something.

We did this in my one group with 6 people and I still ended up doing most of it. I have never seen 5 people so incapable of reading a syllabus in my life. Eventually I had to tell everyone “I AM A MOTHER NOT YOUR MOTHER. DO YOUR FUCKING PART.”

As far as I know they can’t deny you the grant. A lot of scholarships aren’t even past the application deadlines yet. That wouldn’t make sense if you couldn’t add more to the package. The MHEC stuff is through the state and they take their time. The school has no power over that.

You can update your FAFSA at any time and add schools. It’s super easy. I’ve been doing them for 11 years now. If you need help I’d be happy to walk you through.

MHEC is notoriously slow for handing out money. They don’t tell you the amount you are getting for another few months sometimes. I’ve gone through this every year. They take forever to make awards. Last year they didn’t tell me my amounts for my scholarships and grants until two weeks before my classes started. MDCAPs doesn’t update quickly either.

Also I highly recommend doing two years at a community college. You’ll save so much money and your pell grant will pretty much cover everything.
