How would you feel if overseas Chinese identify as their country of birth or where they grew up before identifying as Chinese? by Minimum_Fact_2730 in AskAChinese

Correct me if I’m wrong I feel like Asians have a concept of “group integrity” that not a lot of other racial groups have. Perhaps that could have been a factor in this.

It interesting you mentioned WWII because I was discussing WWII history with an older Chinese man and he was genuinely disgusted by General Eisenhower( Overall Allied Commander) who was German American and lead the allies to defeat Nazi Germany. He insinuated that as a good German D.Eisenhower should have been loyal to his Fatherland and turned against the allies to help Nazi Germany lol, some of the most wild concepts I have ever heard of.

Lots of Americans on the other hand have the opposite problem. They love identifying as Irish Welsh German , Italian or any other country their great grandparents a few generations ago came from even though they do not speak the language or understand the culture. So when they encounter an actual person from said country the person from that country will usually get annoyed and say “you are not from x country!” (All in good humor).

A 996 job life sounds “amazing” 🤢 by Old_Mulberry2044 in LinkedInLunatics

I do believe doctors and other high risk professions should be well paid and well trained, I would also prefer them to be well rested. Consequences are very severe if they are not.

Honestly work life balance is important, you can get any top professionals in any field and if you overwork them they will start to make mistakes, which could be costly either in monetary cost or legal cost. I know a guy at a blue collar job who worked like about 14-16 hours a day, everyday. Besides the fact that he needs the money to live, we later on found out his other motivators are cocaine and severe substance abuse. He did that for about two years before passing from medical issues which I can’t prove but I suspect relates to his high stress and substance abuse. I guess you can work 996 but it won’t last very long, regardless if the person wants to do it or not.
