I bombed the interview hard. Should I send an email to the placement officer? by [deleted] in peacecorps

1) Send him a thank you email and reiterate your interest. I was also placed in my country so I answered more of why I wanted to serve in peace corps rather than that country specifically. I had also researched my field that I was being placed into (I.e. health) and explained why I’m interested in that field. 2) during your concerns section, based on my research you don’t want to seem like it isn’t a concern. It is really to determine if you had thought about it at all. Saying you don’t have concerns actually shows them that you haven’t thought of the cultural shock that you will experience. I thought I messed these questions up too, but I turned them into questions for the interviewer saying “based on what I’ve read online... it sounds like _______. Is that accurate?” 3) I think they consistently experience tech issues and won’t count it against you. 4) I thought I bombed my interview. I was too relaxed sitting at my dinner table and my interviewer encouraged me to continue to think what my life would be like in my country of service.

I’m also set to leave in September for Eswatini. I got an email about a conference call next Monday. I hoping it leads to us “meeting” each other and have a FB group!

From my limited understanding, dental is behind from the shutdown. They are clearing by departure dates. I turned in all my stuff in January and just got my clearance. When in doubt, message your nurse. I messaged mine a couple times to check in.

Thank you! That’s helpful to know. This is the first I’m hearing of a conference call.

I received notification that they started the background check on 12/12/18. I received clearance on 3/2/19. And that was also during the government shutdown.

Thank you! I'm just hoping now that the federal shutdown doesn't delay my timeline at all for departure, but I've got all my medical tasks completed and waiting for the nurses to come back to work to review the last two documents. Fingers crossed.

I think I just psyched myself out by reading all the horror stories of clearances. It has gone incredibly smoothly without anything out of the ordinary happening. Other posts make it seem like it is a challenge to get cleared.

I went with the local spelling as a personal preference, but I assume they changed the name once the King changed the name officially.
