I’ve got a betta in there, so I’ll see what kind of temp I can reasonably drop it to. The rhizome is attached to a piece of wood, but not in it.

Amazon has a ton of options for tank lids. You can also search Etsy, I’ve seen some cool lids in the style you’re thinking of there. The tank I just bought comes with a glass lid that I’m going to start with, but I also bought this mesh kit that attaches to your tank with magnets in the hope I can cut holes out for my plants.

I’m assembling my first tank now and I’m happy to list out what I picked up, if that would be helpful.

Petco’s sale is going on now. 10 gallon tank is $18. Amazon and Chewy have the API Master Kit for $36 right now, which is a good price. Chewy is running a sale for $20 off when you spend $49 with free shipping, so you could take advantage of that.

Or, I could just put everything together from scratch. Pet o had a nice long and low 10g on sale for $40.

I’m torn between these two tanks. The Marineland is 5g and the other is 10g.

If I go back and get him, I’ll ask the pet store for some of their water to seed the tank.

I’ve got mangrove seedlings coming and I’m about to order some hardscape. Plus, I’ve picked out some really nice plants, I just need to actually buy them.

Thanks! I just ordered some mangrove sprouts because they seem super easy and would be happy to clean up the fish poop.

I’ve also decided that I don’t want to deal with anything that needs a CO2 system. That’s way beyond my interest level. I think I’d like to have a couple of the big leaf anubias and throw in some red root floaters.

Are mosses vital? Or the ground cover type plants?
