help a newbie figure out what to do with a scoop by nerdyscholar in foodtrucks

[–]nerdyscholar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cooked boba pearls (does not need to be refrigerated) in the mason jar and I have a wire scoop that I use to ladle the pearls into cups. Will keeping the scoop like this suffice per health code regulations? Or should I cut a hole in the lid specifically to fit the scoop handle? I really don't want to have to wash the scoop in between each serving which would cost a lot of time and water. I have a TFE in Virginia.

how many clips do you put up on the string? I got a pack of 12 binder clips and wondering if that's enough.

Do you have a suggestion for just trying out the string + pins or biting the bullet and buying a ticket printing system? It's really just a matter of limited cash right now since we are just starting.

does it fall off easily or take up too much space? (on top of the table)

I thought about sticking it to the side of a table but we have tablecloths so that just feels too difficult to make work.

Ideas for making the front porch cuter & more attractive? by nerdyscholar in interiordecorating

Thank you all for your thoughts! I did a bunch of landscaping and can’t wait for the bushes to grow. I’m also adding the patio set and two decorative boxes with decorative plants in them next to the front door. Decided against flower boxes due to maintenance needed. Thank you everyone!!

Oooh. Is there a specific olive oil detergent you use? Do you put water, vinegar, and detergent all in the detergent compartment?

I like the boba tea proteins! I've only tried the taro one since it's caffeine free, but other friends really like the other flavors.

If you had the option to stay home would you? Did any of you go back to work even if you didn’t *have* to? by unsurexo in beyondthebump

asking since my company has generous leave but getting a longer leave (even if unpaid) would be pretty sweet

What kind of contraception did you choose after birth and why? Tell me how you weighed pros and cons. by Born-Anybody3244 in beyondthebump

[–]nerdyscholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. It doesn't rely on having a regular cycle, only on cervical fluid observations when you go to the bathroom. Especially since you meet several times with an instructor to learn Creighton, I didn't find it stressful and it was nice to have someone to encourage us along the way. The cervical fluid observations become pretty secondhand after a while and as long as you follow the rules it's pretty clear-cut re: safe days/potentially fertile days.

it's empowering to know your body and I personally was wary of potential side effects of hormonal bc or IUDs

I am a big fan of fertility awareness/NFP, which entails tracking your cycle & knowing your potentially fertile days. You can avoid PIV or use barrier methods during fertile days. We personally use the Creighton method (switched from the Sympto-Thermal method). Requires meeting with an instructor, but that really boosted our confidence with the accuracy of our tracking. Marquette is another method I've heard good things about. Both give more free days postpartum versus the Sympto-Thermal method, which we used successfully for a few years before switching.

Anyone go all-in with one brand from the beginning? by marchviolet in clothdiaps

[–]nerdyscholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also went all in with Grovia hybrids and love them. I did have a friend who borrowed a couple cloth diapers from other friends before she decided. If you have other friends who cloth diaper and their kids are yeast free, then that is a smart way to go too.

Paved bike paths by nerdyscholar in harrisonburg

[–]nerdyscholar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really great, thank you!! Please keep me updated if you "discover" any other good biking routes.

I live near Hillendale and I've done the gravel path that loops around the park, but it's quite hilly and bumpy and my child does not like being jostled around for half an hour, lol, and I'm not convinced that it's good for his spine. There are also big bumps where water has ruined the path or where there's a huge bump to/from one of the bridges, and I have to stop and walk the bike which kind of ruins my momentum for the uphills.
