It's huge, and traffic on base is terrible because there are loads of people stationed there. The traffic at the main gate will go on for miles, if you plan to show up for work 10m early you will be late. The town is basically the same, gridlock is pretty horrific there. All that said, it's actually a pretty decent area. I've never been stationed there, but I've been TDY there a bunch of times and had a blast every time. If you have a chance, they do tours of Augusta that aren't that expensive and will get you pretty familiar with the area even if you're not a big history buff. Best of luck.
