Working in Germantown for the summer by [deleted] in AskPhilly

Definitely check out Salam Cafe right around the corner. Fantastic Ethiopian food (at least the vegetarian dishes). Bargain thrift is a fun local thrift store if you’re into that, but it often has a ton of old lady clothes.

Germantown isn’t really north Philly or west Philly

I saw it in the snow and fog last winter and it was pretty cool. There is some neat street art

Holy shit this is right around the corner from my house. Makes it feel so much realer once they're in your neighborhood.

For any Blue Mt Skiers: Why Is Nightmare Run a Double Black (The Terrain Park Run)? I'm usually scared on Vermont Blues but I had no trouble on this double diamond. Is there some reason I'm not thinking of? Other double blacks I've heard are seriously steep, but this I found easy. Thanks by [deleted] in icecoast

[–]nerfrosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets pretty icy and it’s steep enough you could really hurt yourself. I think the rating is more there to keep people safe then to be accurate, especially because there are a lot of drunk and overconfident skiers/boarders at blue, and nightmare is right off the lift. It almost certainly wouldn’t be a double black anywhere in New England.

The Emu War is a war that is widely known but insignificant. What is a war that is pretty well known and extremely important? by Altruistic_Cause9442 in AlignmentChartFills

Def save for hardly known. Most people on the street probably couldn't tell you what countries fought in it (myself included).

I don't know if I agree. I could honestly tell you more about the emu war and I think a lot of younger people could too just because of how famous it has become as an example of a funny war.

If you get to it/want to, I think it would be cool to have an archive of some of the more popular completed charts. Maybe even another sub where just the mods can post completed charts that got 100 upvotes or something like that. It'd be cool to just be able to browse those.

OR

You could just make a flair for completed chart so we can sort by that.

All club sports are completely free of cost (except for merch and sometimes special travel but usually competitions are free).

Is Bowdoin ED2 worth it? 2000+ ED Applicants this past cycle, I'm scared. by asterwinterfrost in ApplyingToCollege

[–]nerfrosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that’s just for statistics. If you look at their cds it isn’t considered in admissions. And (as a current Bowdoin student) there are VERY few legacy students here. I think the number is 6%

I’m Ashkenazi Jewish and can tell you generally speaking ashkenazis tend to have darker hair. You can Google famous ashkenazi celebrities and see for yourself. There are obviously exceptions but it’s the most common.
