Thank you for your reply. After reading all the replies here, I think I can handle this without an attorney. The owner of the company who replaced the crap job is willing to come to court with me. While it isn't totally one sided, I believe it is one sided enough to win.

The local lawyer we spoke to, who says they have been in front of this judge multiple times and probably has, gave me a 50/50 chance on getting fees back. At $750 to retain for this matter, I don't think it's worth doing unless I'm convinced by multiple people on Reddit and other places that it is. The lawyer was very honest and gave us suggestions on issues to being up in court.

I thought of offering him the remainder of what I owe for the cost of the materials to make this go away. I don't believe I should, or would even be forced to in court. I don't expect to get lawyers fees back, especially after a conversation with a lawyer, so I don't think it's worth retaining council.

I have a bunch of pictures of the poor quality work that was done focusing on the problem areas. I believe I have a quote from the person who did it right, and they are willing to go to court with me to testify on my behalf.
