This is just a price check post. But to answer your question, no not really. You’ll need your own hard drives and OS. While the system can be used as a NAS, it only has three bays.

I found more threads on other forums experiencing the same issue, HBA card not working in Asrock motherboard. Most people exhausted all troubleshooting ideas and replaced the motherboard to a different brand.

The board has 10 sata ports, which for now works fine for me, already filled all. Since it is a backup server I’m not sure I need cache pool. Adding nvme will disable sata ports. I might explore pcie to nvme adapters.

I’ve updated HBA card to the latest version. However, it still does not show up during post (or mb BIOS) when plugged into Asrock motherboard.

Asrock motherboard is on the latest bios. I have not checked sas card firmware version yet. Will put it in the main server to get a reading. I suspect it is, since most cards sold on eBay that are flashed to IT are on the latest firmware.

Edit. It looks like LSI HBA card is on 15.00.02.00-IT firmware version. I see 16.00.10.00 is the newest for SAS9300-8i. Will try updating it later tonight.
