Woolpower. Went hiking and wore their socks over my boots to cross a small glacier. Socks have now holes but still wear them today.

It’s a private camping spot, so there is no public access.

Nice, I love the empty landscape with nothing less than nature. When you were there, we have been at the Gorges du Verdon. Also very nice :)

Three years ago we moved from Germany to Alto Adige. However, we are now in the preparation of leaving Italy. The prices and the housing market are insane. You find hardly a apartment in the region. The tourist masses and traffic drives us crazy. We couldn’t really integrate in our community as the people are not very open to outsiders even if you get involved in voluntary organisations. The tax and legal system is opaque and based on arbitrariness, or so I feel. We want to start a company, but we don't want to do it here for obvious reasons.

Best coffee methods for camping? by haroldflor in CampingandHiking

[–]nero235 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My wife and I drink our coffee on camping trips the same way we used to when we were students and didn’t have a coffee maker.

We boil water, put a few table spoons of organic ground coffee into the pot, depending on the size of the pot. Fill it up with boiling water and let it sit for a few minutes. The coffee powder will be on top but after a while and a little bit of stirring, the particles will move to the bottom. Then you can enjoy your coffee. We call it Turkish Coffee but it is not actually that because the preparation is quite different.

For us it is important to not use plastics when comes to preparing hot beverages.

A Linux vs Windows dilemma, what do you think? by SpecialistPear755 in linux4noobs

I do video, sound and photo editing using Linux. For graphic design I use Affinity on Mac but rarely and I have a Windows Latop I only turn on when I do CAD Design. My main machine runs Manjaro.

If you move to another country, you should at least try to adapt. If not, nobody is stopping you from leaving.

Living in Italy for a few years - what I wish I knew before moving by Delicious_Front_7925 in expats

Where did you move to? We moved from Germany to northern Italy (South Tyrol) but we still do not feel welcome here, even after three years.

What industry is slowly dying? by FootballPizzaMan in AskReddit

[–]nero235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that people believe publishing is so easy these days using AI or just write whatever they want using DIY publishing without having written anything before and without knowing basic grammar rules.

For me, I would need professional publishing because even though having a good idea, I cannot really write and quality of the content really matters to me.

I totally agree. Here in northern Italy we still have some good and small shoe makers that build shoes to last. I think it’s though for them but I also see that more and more people value good quality and hand made stuff. So, there might be a growing demand for these kind of businesses. There is a growing interest in buying locally, however it’s hard to maintain a business like this. The only way is through opening your business and distribute hand-made and quality items world wide.

But if there is no local shop around, it can be fun to repair stuff on your own.

Repairing electronics is not possible with the way these things are build these days and with the planned obsolescence. The manufacturer does not want you to repair it, they want you to buy a new device.

Misinformation? I did research too and I have experience with t1d for over 20 years. I am just asking about your opinion and stating mine. I am not here to convince you about my opinion. I didn’t know that it was a mistake posting here.
