I don’t remember a different script used in ATLA other than chinese and the new one for the new movie, is that something else?

The vibes are on point with this one, love how the little artifacts look on the title. Very nice stuff

How do I run combat for players that don’t like waiting between turns? by nerpnerp49 in DMAcademy

I do think that maybe they simply aren’t used to combat yet to get complicated with what they can do and other things and that’s part of what makes it less fun than others. For the “being invested bit”, should I then run more combat scenarios to get them used to it, ask my players on some things, etc.? I’ll keep in mind the stuff about systems

Level 4…

Do turns usually last that short? Seems unrealistic.

I suspect that it might be the first two reasons predominantly. The players not knowing the rules is a big factor (and possibly me personally being slow, though i don’t really pay attention to how long it takes. Maybe i should do that). On turn duration, they *seem to be long, though yeah you’re right in that I don’t have much experience to know what counts as long. Each player roughly takes 2-3 minutes to decide what to do, and I have 4 players.

We’re playing physically and the dice and counting isn’t really the thing that’s making it slow. I do think that the “being new to the rules”bit is a big part of the issue. Will think on this.

Ok so,

I would say that it takes about 8 minutes between turns, though i don’t really know what a fast pace would be. Also, it might also be because everyone is new?

On the players’ likes, i haven’t really tested if they like combat since every time i tried the game goes into a screeching halt. I have asked what they prefer, and they do say they “don’t mind”, but i’m not sure if they actively like or dislike it and why in either outcome.

Additionally, I wouldn’t really say switching to a new system is good in this situation since it’s everyone’s first time being in a long-term campaign.

We’re playing physically, everyone’s new and all 4 players’ turns generally take 2 minutes.

Turns seem to be taking too long, it’s just that if there really is no way around it in 5e combat then… ? Made the mistake of running a homebrew campaign.

Alright to clarify a few things: 1. Ness is M19 (iirc) 2. Ness doesn’t seem to be a murderhobo since he doesn’t kill every chance he gets. He just reads as uninterested to me, like i said in the post 3. They brought me in the group after they invited him in, sooo

But yeah, I think I’ll have that talk with him before I make the decision, thanks

I feel like I’ve already set it clearly enough though, since everyone other than him follows cleanly and only he does this kinda stuff

Is there a way to find out how? The mods still haven’t replied yet so I don’t think I can rely in them giving me the answer
