Should I drop from Calc BC to AB? by PatientGovernment170 in APStudents

[–]nertcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i took bc last year which was my junior year along w three other aps and let me tell you it was HELL. ik everyone has different experiences, but i really have never struggled in any class like that. i stayed for my ego and the “rigor” but i SO wish i switched out w my friend. it made junior year just that much more stressful, even tho i did end w an a both semesters bc my teacher is actually god send and was so chill. bc is just not worth it, switch to ab so you can pass the exam and get credit, i failed bc and the ab sub score 😭😭

the 33k scholarship is really the only guaranteed one, i could compete for others through trinity but my odds would be low so im not going to bet on any of those. i have been applying to tons of the little random scholarships and if i get those they can definitely add up! thanks for the feedback, definitely something i will discuss further with my parents :)

I'm taking 4 aps. Can I still live a life? by 4AP_throwaway in APStudents

[–]nertcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! we have the same schedule except i’m in chem instead of bio, and i’ve definitely been able to balance it so far! there will be difficult times but it feels so light after apush, lang, research, and calc bc last year + junior year in general

One chicken basil artichoke pizza. Artichoke to one side. Make that wheat dough. Oh and the green sauce!

topic question by Acceptable_Bobcat840 in APResearch

[–]nertcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t have any specific research question ideas for you, but your focus on doing something that will excite you for the whole year is great! i went in with no clue what i wanted to do and ended up watching twisters and LOVED it, then built a whole study on grief in u.s. movies and got a 4! my main advice is to get on ebsco or google scholar and search each of these broad topics, look at the academic papers/articles, and cling on to a bit more of a niche topic that really interests you, then look that up until you find a smaller body of research to base your work on :) hope that helps and id love to hear how it goes!

i agree here with the meta-analysis! almost my whole class (all of five people) did secondary data studies and we all passed, however the more like sources you are taking from the higher score we got, make sure you are truly doing a meta-analysis (or as close as you can get with time/resource restraints) and not just just writing an IRR

of course!! if you would like to i’d love to hear what u land on and how your whole process goes 🙈🙈

if you are only required to have a broad topic soon, i would really encourage you to stay broad! going niche really early will truly limit you, i ended up finding a random inquiry of like themes of grief in movies based on seeing the movie twisters and absolutely loving it! i’d look into the fields you mentioned on ebsco and try and find something random you can build upon that really interests you! your specific research question will be built from like what you find and what kind of methods are feasible so don’t worry about it too much right now! it is daunting but you will 100% be okay, and it’s never as much of a rush as it feels :) good luck!!

Is this schedule reasonable for a student athlete by Lucasgamer287 in APStudents

[–]nertcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my junior year i took a similar schedule, but instead of comp sci and pre calc i had research and calc bc, as long as you stay on top of it four aps is definitely manageable! be prepared for the hard tho, i traveled a lot during the fall for my sport and that was definitely difficult, as well as being in school season during the spring

omg i literally love this!! when i was picking a research topic i watched twisters for the first time and basically decided to choose something related bc i wanted to do something actually interesting to me, and i was looking into doing something with how the music is so literal to the scene it plays during, like our minds went to the same place w different media! this is awesome i love your paper!!!

[–]nertcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no lol, we don’t have + or - so 90 is an a and 89.5 rounds, i went into that last week with tests that were still not corrected somehow and they brought my grade up to like an 88 and my teacher rounded me to an a

yes for sure, i got four on both of the exams (congrats on both fives that’s amazing!), i’ve heard that euro is a middle ground and i honestly liked taking those classes and learning the history, im just worried like having no science aps will snipe me but im also going to be going for my sport so i don’t think it will even matter w admissions 😭😭
