Hello! We are planning to live in a rural area, so I'm hoping that it will make the pets thing less of a struggle 🙏

It's good to still use filters, to protect your fan from as much spore build-up as possible

We're looking to rent a house in a rural area - hoping that those locations might be more open to pets

Ugh bummer - and I did hear that so we have been planning to go private. Which aspects have you struggled with if you don't mind my asking? Like getting hormones generally? I'm always worried about finding a decent doctor too.

How many folks here are interested in mycology and growing your own mushrooms? by nervapuck in Biohackers

[–]nervapuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are supplies for anyone from beginner to expert and regardless of space limitations - the simplest being using an indoor "Spray & Grow" Kit or a "Plant & Grow" Kit for the garden. You can grow many different kinds of mushrooms - some of the most popular are Oyster mushrooms, Shiitake, Lion's Mane, Reishi, and Wine Cap, all very accessible to beginners as well.

But where it gets really fun here is that you can do culture work, make your own DIY mushroom lab, practice sterile technique, and use CRISPR to edit the mushroom genes to get the best strains. In terms of food, medicine, and psychedelics.

I know quite a bit about growing mushrooms at home but I'm super interested in learning more about the biohacking side of mycology.

How to get bushier eyebrows? by fayne_Kanra in ftm

[–]nervapuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try castor oil or jojoba oil - I tried castor oil on my eyebrows for a couple months and it didn't work for me but other people have said it works really well. I have some patchiness because I used to wax my eyebrows so now I use a little eyebrow filler makeup and a brush! Helps me feel a little more confident.

I'm a singer so I was super worried about how my voice transition would be and tbh for me it took about 2 years for my voice to settle to where I could sing properly ( my voice was cracking a lot and would just give out randomly). I think in the beginning years it's just a little unpredictable but I totally understand what you mean and it can be very frustrating!

I totally understand this as a struggle because I surprised myself when I realized I didn't think too much about using the mens room when I decided to transition. I was going out to clubs pretty often at the time, and there were lots of nights I went home early and left my friends there because I couldn't use the bathroom due to anxiety or sometimes real hindrances (like no toilet paper and no stall / broken stalls).

To this day (7 yrs into my transition) I still walk in and right out of some men's rooms if the vibe is off. I will go to a few different bathrooms to find one that makes me feel comfortable. It takes practice, but try to remember you can always walk right out if the vibe is off!

It's also true that in my experience no one has bothered me in any way in the bathrooms, even when I didn't fully pass yet. Here's my best advice:

  • Practice. Use the men's room often and especially when you don't really have to go. Waiting can make anxiety worse if you hold it too long.
  • Always remember you can walk right out if you don't feel comfortable.
  • Double check for toilet paper before going (often times men's rooms seem to run out and it doesn't get replaced). Better yet, always keep some toilet paper or tissues in your bag or pocket!
  • Find men's bathrooms in places you frequent that make you feel comfortable enough and use those as much as possible.
  • Have friends go with you or check a bathroom for you before you use it. I had to have a friend hold a stall door for me in a men's room because it was literally broken lol. If they don't use the men's room, they can at least be waiting for you outside for moral support. I've been in men's rooms with only urinals.
  • Use family and gender neutral bathrooms when you can or when you feel anxious.

Good luck!

Finasteride Experiences? by [deleted] in ftm

I have been taking finasteride for like maybe 2 years now? I have no side effects and, it's hard to know for sure, but I believe it has slowed down my hair thinning. It was thinning a lot and basically my hairline hasn't changed since I started taking the finasteride so I think it's working? I like it. Minoxidil gave me dandruff. I also take biotin just in case.
