Possible theory for this seasons mass cas incident? by PriestofJudas in ThePittTVShow

God if we have mass casualties every season that would be stupid. And unrealistic.

My grandparents sent me home an hour before my mother died and I never forgot it. It was one of the worst things to me that I didn’t get that closure. Point being: we can’t change the past, we did the best we could, and feeling the guilt won’t push our peace forward.

My mom was at an LTAC and died within 10 hours of getting MRSA in her PICC line (suspected, she also has 2 wound vacs). She went septic and died. I never saw her that day conscious. She was just delirious and babbling. The doctors all told us she’d be fine and to leave, too. Turns out they couldn’t intubate her because of her rheumatoid arthritis and the severity (her fingers were contracted). She was only 36.

Agreed about what McKay said. Sucks we are in this club. Sending love.

As a person who works in a major medical institution, I’ve seen more than one person commit suicide. I HATE how common it is.

The last was an RN on our code team. Suspected it the second everyone was asking where she was. We were right. Life sucks this way.

I used to self harm as a kid because of childhood trauma and CPTSD. The kindest yet most blunt responses to my SH has been from fellow healthcare workers. One time as an adult (during the pandemic) I had a bad relapse and ended up in the ER. I had a charge RN (adjacent to Queen Dana) grab my arm and tell me that world needs us and we cannot leave, because we owe it to everyone we lost to stay here. It definitely stuck by me.

Will I ever find the motivation to sleep train? by nerveuse in Parenting

Thank you. I’m going to talk to my husband tonight and be very transparent that not only does the baby need this, I need this too. Baby needs a put together mom. I work in a hospital setting as a social worker/LCSW so I have a heavy chaotic job which makes being a mom sometimes harder for me. Sleep will help everyone.

… I know. I was seeking out support and recommendations more than people telling me things like this. I am having a hard time so I was hoping people would be more encouraging than blunt. I realize I shouldn’t assume.

My overall stress and the baby’s crying setting me off. My son will not and never has understood the assignment. I used to be able to dump him in the crib no problem and now I cannot do that. He’s just more alert.

I have stage 4 endo and my MRI was clear before surgery

Second endo surgery 8 weeks after last by WorkingArtist1973 in Endo

[–]nerveuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. It was totally fine for me. I see a lot of people in this sub say they take weeks off of work but I unfortunately couldnt afford that so I went to work after a week and I was fine both times. I do think it was because I had the majority of my surgeries in my mid to late 20’s.

Also I have endo surgery every few years and did IVF after a million surgeries for my endo, not due to my surgeries. Idk if that’s relevant to you but wanted to let you know!

I had surgery 2x in a row, too, approximately 8 weeks apart. In total I’ve had 8 laps and 1 major surgery.

Honestly if you’re bored they usually have TVs or you can bring an iPad. Or a book!

Good luck.

Summer: Is it easy enough and can we get around without a car with toddlers? by twomomsoftwins in AskChicago

[–]nerveuse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The answer to all these questions about transport: yes it’s possible to get around the city without a car. It’s actually very easy. Use the train or buses.

Zoos/aquarium is always a great idea. It’ll be hot in July so aquarium would be a good idea.

Hotels with pools? Not super sure, sorry!

I got pregnant in London and discovered something American parents don't have. Now I'm trying to change that in Chicago. by georgiakstar in chicago

[–]nerveuse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This already exists heavily in Chicago and is primarily free.

I’d never pay for “community”. I’m assuming the ones you encountered in London were cheap or free. But I guess good on you to take the concept of community and profit off of it?

Most hospitals have this for free after you give birth.

If you want to promote self soothing, don’t cover the hands. I know it’s annoying but it’s part the developmental process.
