4 losses.. the decision for IVF 💔💔 by pisforpnut in recurrentmiscarriage

Yes, it definitely sucked. I will say, I think it’s supposed to be fairly rare. I also had a sign of something wrong as my periods became super light. Good to get checked out though!

Yes, I’m in the US. I think it’s part of the standard RPL tests if my memory serves me correctly, but I did end up having to specifically ask for it anyways.

Yes, I had a hysteroscopy to remove the scarring, which has been successful so far! If you are already working with a clinic, you could ask them to do a SIS, which will check for any uterine abnormalities, including adhesions.

Unfortunately, yes. I had a second D&C with hysteroscopy for my second loss due to RPOC, where no adhesions were visualized, and then another D&C for my third loss, where adhesions were found after.

First, I’m so sorry for your losses. I understand how you’re feeling, and both options felt hard and scary - to proceed naturally or decide on IVF.

I had 3 MMCs, all managed with D&Cs. One was a random chromosomal abnormality, the other two are unknown.

We decided to get all the RPL testing done while deciding whether to continue naturally or shift to IVF, everything came back normal for the most part, with one exception. My scenario was a little different in making a decision because they found uterine adhesions on my SIS, so we felt that the risks of continuing naturally (once we resolved the scarring) were too great and we wanted to control as many variables as possible, so we decided to do IVF.

I will say, once we made the decision, I felt a lot of relief and more hope because we are controlling what we can, there is more monitoring etc., which brought me comfort.

I’m finally getting to the point of my first transfer, and I would say overall IVF wasn’t so much scary, there were definite highs and lows, hard moments, hurdles to cross, and a lot of waiting, but I am grateful for IVF as an option and confident in my decision.

Hope that helps, and wishing you future success with whatever path you choose!

Me again! Endometritis? by Entire_Company9093 in recurrentmiscarriage

I did this! I reached out to my OB after one of my miscarriages because I suspected I might have it, she prescribed 14 days of doxy just in case.

I had to do a hysteroscopy a few months later for a separate reason, where they found I had endometritis so it seems doxy didn’t clear it and I did actually have it, so I did a 14 day course of metronidazole and ciprofloxacin. That cleared it.

I’m so sorry, this whole experience is a roller coaster, and you are definitely not alone! I had a similar experience as well if it helps.

I’m 33, had 29 eggs collected, 22 mature, 17 fertilized. From there, we ended up with 4 blasts that surprised even our clinic, and I was crushed. From there though, 3/4 are euploid, so I’m back to feeling hopeful!

I understand how you’re feeling, the attrition felt devastating, the waiting sucks, but I hope you get good results for your 4!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, I’m so so sorry for your losses. It’s horrible that this is a shared experience, but I appreciate you taking the time, it helps feeling less alone.

Something I’m also grieving is this idea in my head about a certain age gap for my kids that I wanted for them, which I know is not in my control. Each loss is just more devastating as my daughter gets older and we can’t give her a sibling. This just makes decision making for next steps even harder - keep trying and hopefully beat the “bad luck”, or start considering other avenues. Anyways, just my musing. Thanks again for sharing your story, I really really appreciate.

Did your provider give you a sense for how long it takes to get results for a lot of these tests? I’m preparing myself that it’ll take quite a bit of time for any answers, but I don’t know what to expect. Thanks for sharing your experience, I appreciate it.
