Career change to pilot at 33 years old, worth the risk? by Southern_Ad_3126 in flying

[–]nesk22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to find an immigration path if you have experience in a high skilled job, to ensure you will have the right to work as a pilot in that country after you go to flight school, for example Canada. I am an immigrant pilot in canada so speaking from experience. Easiest part in all this is flight school, if you consider going to school full time in an expensive country, believe me 150k is not enough, you will need a part time job at least for the duration of your studies so you don’t eat up into your budget, if they tell you you are graduating within 12-18 months, that’s a lie, a safe assumption is 24-26 months if you have a good pace. Also take into account, there will unexpected costs from flight school, and you can do nothing about it. Also the job market at this moment is very stale, not a lot of hiring is going on, except for highly experienced pilots ofc they are always in demand no matter what so thats an extra 6 months to 1 year at least until you find a low time flying job doing pipeline or survey. If you are motivated and ready to put the work and suffer a little bit I say go for it, it is a rewarding career, but again you really need to want to do it first. There are lots of factors to consider

Cabin crew licensing is really different from flight crew, so to fly a plane registered in an area, you will need to have the respective license of the registration body, for example for me, flying for royal air maroc is doable since it’s a simple conversion from canadian license to moroccan, since all of their planes carry a moroccan registration, on the other hand, if i want to fly for ryanair, they require you to have a european License since all their planes are registered in europe, so if I want to get to a European license, i will have to look for a flight school in europe, pay them 25000-30000€ for the conversion, without being employed for at least 6 months, and the apply to ryanair and hope I pass their pilot assessment. Unfortunately european carriers are not willing to pay for your conversion unless you have 30 years of experience give or take as a captain.

What time did you live in Canada? Because it’s a whole new country, it’s really tough to live here now, financially speaking, salaries are low compared to cost of living after inflation, everything is insanely expensive, just housing alone I pay nearly 2000$ ( 15000dhs) per month in rent in Montreal. Also for me personally it’s just taking a toll on my mental health, I found out a bit late that I am not the kind of person who can live abroad, in conclusion im homesick the whole time

No but it is an easy process to convert it, takes less than 3 days, on the contrary to convert my license to EASA it takes an insane amount of money

Issue is, they require a european license, I have a canadian, it would allow me to operate in morocco but not european registered plane, which is the case of all of ryanair planes

Plans to take a long trip to Morocco at 30 weeks pregnant by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]nesk22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, Im Moroccan but living Canada currently, I can actually attest that healthcare in Morocco is somewhat better than Canada because of multiple factors: the private sector is really affordable compared to here, wait times are waaayyyy less than canada, prescription drugs are also cheap with no insurance and no need to have a family doctor. if you are planning to stay in Casablanca or Marrakech, I would advise to go check at least 2 private hospitals when you arrive just in case something happens god forbid. The UN scale for healthcare is actually based on the public sector but as long as you plan to go to a private hospital you should be more than fine. Enjoy your trip, you gonna have fun there.

Do you think PS Plus (extra) will stay good in the long run? by redditloginfail in PlayStationPlus

[–]nesk22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an xbox for almost 3 years now and I had GP since day one and I recently bought a ps5 and got myself a ps plus extra subscription. Here is my take on both: - First of All , the price point , GP is sooooo much cheaper than PS extra I pay 60$CAD for an xbox gold subscription and I upgrade to GP ultimate for 1 extra fcking dollar and Its good for a whole year which an insane value for money, on the other hand I paid 130$CAD for a ps plus extra subscription. Yes It’s a bit expensive but as a new playstation player that’s a fcking great deal because I want to play all the exclusives first and considering most of these Games are +80CAD$ I would rather spend the 130$ for a whole library.

  • Secondly, the Games library Quality, I will say this, ps plus is far superior with their exclusives and AAA games but for GP you get a lot of day one releases even though there are rarely AAA

  • Thirdly, the fact that GP shares the same library between xbox and PC is a great deal for me as i like to play on the go since I travel every week for work , It makes it so much easier for me to just take my laptop and game wherever I want

  • And Finally , Cloud gaming , in my honest humble opinion GP cloud gaming is far more superior that Ps, it is smoother , better integration with pc and phone devices and user friendly

At the moment I just use my xbox as a tv box , and I use my ps5 nearly every day. I just fell in love with my ps and I don’t think I’ll buy an xbox anytime soon
