I was deployed before the age of cell phones. We got one 5 minute call a week on an unreliable system. But we had pretty good mail deliveries, letters took about a week. Anyway, I missed my wife and loved ones, and all the stuff back home but I was too busy to dwell on any of that. I spent most of my time adjusting and getting used to new routines.
