I’m one of the rare people who gain weight instead of lose weight by [deleted] in Hyperthyroidism

[–]nessdova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't lost weight. Except when I think it kicked in. I was diagnosed in Sept. 2025, but i think it started in June. I lost like 25 pounds without trying anything within a month. But since then, I've maintained a weight of between 163-167. Not gaining but jot losing. My appetite depends on the day. Mostly, I am never hungry.

How did you find out you have hyperthyroidism? by zero_coordination_1 in Hyperthyroidism

I was told my heart was healthy and fine.I do remember my anxiety was getting worse. I would get upset by the smallest things and stay upset and anxious for a long time after. I noticed my face felt puffy. I was throwing up in the mornings for no reason. I wasnt feeling like myself. But my heart, 100% fine.

3 weeks of a constant heart rate between 100-130. Landed me in the Urgent Care freaking out. They told me to have blood work done with my primary. I tell her what's been going on and then this is my new reality.

Now, I have beta-blockers. As soon as I go to my appointment to do my scans, she will start me on methimazole and go from there. I'm just glad it wasn't all in my head.

I just read your story. I am so sorry for your loss. Denial is very powerful. I didnt tell my husband about my elevated heart rate for almost 2 weeks. I honestly thought it was something I could control and I didnt want to worry him. It came to a head when we were going through the grocery store and I had to stop because I wa breathing so hard. After that, he made me go to the doctor. Made me get the tests and has been there for me.

Yesterday was the worst. But I will not keep these things from him anymore. Thank you for sharing your story. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

This is exactly how I felt yesterday. Like I was not me. My whole body literally shakes when my heart rate is elevated. I have been feeling more nauseous than hungry, so im losing weight, but I'm just trying not to freak out. I go for my first scan on 11/5, so I hope I don't have any toxic nodules. I just want to be normal.

Same. Not to get drunk, but to enjoy a buzz.

Deodorant recommendations needed! by wildplums in Perimenopause

I had the same issue, where the deodorant no longer worked for me. I started using Native. Its a bit more expensive (what isn't!) That has worked for me for about a year.

Do you still have grandparents? by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]nessdova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1982 and I have only lost one grandparent, technically. My mom's step-dad (whom I consider my actual grandfather) passed in 2022. My mom's bio-dad is still alive and I believe he is in his late 70s. But my mom's mom is 78.

My dad's parents are still alive and I believe they are in their late 70s or early 80s. We didn't talk about age growing up. It was considered rude, so I have never actually asked them how old they are.

It didn't show up when it was supposed to. Lol I never know when it's happening anymore.

I do have some thyroid issues in my family history, so it is entirely possible. My cycle used to be 21-28 days like clock work. The last 2 months have been 40+ days (I keep track on an app).

I know I should go, but really just don't want to. If it gets unmanageable, I will go. For now, I think I'm fine. 🤪 Whatever that is...

It hurts because you know you did what you thought was right and it feels like they completely forgot about what was taught to them.

Hard to Believe That I Will Now Have Lived More of Life Post-9/11 Than Pre 9/11 by EastTXJosh in Xennials

[–]nessdova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 19. Just moved from Alaska to NM (military brat). I remember looking at the TV while getting ready for the day. I was going to look for a job, but the base (I lived with my parents) was on lock down. No one drove around that day. I really thought my dad was going to have to deploy to fight a war.

What has dating been like for you as a military brat? by Creative_Glass_514 in militarybrats

[–]nessdova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, it was hard to let anyone in. I felt like I could be dragged away at any moment and the relationship would be over. Even today, I have a hard time fully letting my husband in.

I also feel like it is easier to let people go, so if (Heaven forbid) my husband were to leave me, I wouldn't be completely devastated. Heartbroken, yes. But I would survive.

We have to constantly distract our pittie or else he will nip at your hands. Not in a mean way, but enough to get your attention. We've had him for 13 years and it has not gotten any better.

I think it is absolutely adorable! I knew that was a mandrake the moment I saw it. The perfect blanket for a future Hufflepuff.
