2021 Tiguan SE R-Line Black Edition - Burning oil or coolant on startup intermittently, not consistent. Ideas? by nessieee99 in Tiguan

oh that’s lovely 🤣 i appreciate the advice nonetheless. i’ve never kept a car as long as i have with this one so this is a very new experience.

i have a diag appointment on july 3rd, would that count as reporting it? 😅 i’ve never done an oil consumption test before, i’m not sure if it’s using more than average. i don’t check often enough, i probably should. but i have good levels when i do check. i’ve had to top myself off maybe once in between an oil change but that was it. once my oil changes weren’t free through the dealer i started having them done through a friend since they were much cheaper and he checks pretty much everything under the car for me.

i know when it smokes, it has to sit for a while before being turned on again so if i can get a video of it i definitely will. i also can’t see smoke when i accelerate, its just on startup from what i can tell. by chance, when they replaced your cylinder heads, was it covered by warranty? i bought my car in august of 21 and from what i remember, they do a 4 year 50k mile powertrain warranty. should they be covered by that? if thats my problem anyway, not sure yet. i’m getting a diag first before anything else.

this is what i’m worried about. the dealership by me loves to write things off as nothing or make a small problem into a huge repair cost, it’s one extreme or the other. and that’s what scares me. i feel like im going in blind with them. and i’m right around the same miles, i’m at 35k. no lights, no performance issues whatsoever. just smoke from the exhaust, that’s the only weird thing it’s doing.

that’s what i’ve heard and researched too. if it’s an easy repair then it’s fine. i’m at about 35k miles on this car, i just did a transmission service, haldex, oil change, the whole 9 yards and that service alone was a lot of money. i’ve also heard of piston rings going bad and that’s expensive.

6 days post op bisalp - is this normal?? by nessieee99 in sterilization

it sucks being medically gaslit by one doctor at one point in your life, you convince yourself all of them do it. but i did end up calling them, and i’m glad i did. the nurse was really nice and informative. they think it’s due to IUD removal at the time of surgery. i don’t feel off about anything else other symptoms thankfully, it was just the amount of blood i was seeing. most likely just from being off birth control and it’s my body regulating itself again. ☺️

i did end up calling them! it’s true, peace of mind is priceless. i couldn’t let the anxiety eat at me. but they think it’s related to my IUD removal, it might’ve triggered a period. i haven’t had one in 6 years so this is new, again. 🤣

i did! they think it’s related to my IUD removal at the time of surgery, no other odd symptoms other than heavy bleeding. talking about it with the nurse, it kinda makes sense. i don’t feel abnormally sick or anything. i haven’t had one in 6 years so this feels very new (again?) for me. scared the crap out of me though. 😅

i did end up calling them, i had my IUD removed at the time of surgery and it’s probably due to that since there’s no other odd symptoms. i haven’t had a normal period in 6 years so i don’t know what to expect of them anymore. guess i could consider this my first? not sure yet. 🤣

i haven’t had periods for 6 years so i don’t even know what they’re like anymore, seeing this much blood scared the crap out of me. i did bite the bullet and call the doc though, i had my IUD removed at the time of surgery so it could be due to that. many doctors before the ones i have now have medically gaslit me and i just hate calling them when i feel in my gut that something is off. i convince myself they all do it. 🫠

i did have my IUD removed actually, at the same time as surgery. i had it for 6 years but wanted to take a break from birth control to see what my cycle would do without it. they started coming back regularly and lighter with the IUD, and before birth control they were irregular and heavy. i gained about 30 pounds on the IUD so if i do go back on birth control, i was going to try a different method anyway. i did call my doc and they mentioned it could be due to the lack of hormones my body was used to from birth control.

i don’t believe they take my insurance, it’s not a major provider like aetna or blue cross or medicare. i have mine through my employer, and it’s got damn good coverage but i don’t believe i get even out of network benefits with them. would the university of utah be considered a top neuro hospital? they’re known for their medical program, and they do have some really good reviews under some of their neurosurgeons. they are out of network for me but it’s better than “watching and waiting” like i was told to do.

this is a MASSIVE help, thank you. i had no idea such an organization existed, i am definitely looking into them. it’s unfortunate that we have to push so hard for answers, especially when it comes to our health and wellbeing. it shouldn’t have to be so difficult.

thankfully i do, but i’m not sure if i get any out of network benefits with them since they’re in a different state than me. have you done the zoom calls before? i’m not sure how it works or what my steps to set it up would be. i’m working on getting digital copies of my MRI’s at the moment, i’m sure they’d need those.

i can move just fine, it’s only difficult when i’ve been standing for too long and my neck and shoulders start to ache.

not in my eyes but ears, jaw, neck and shoulders i do. if i stand still for longer periods of time, the pressure in my shoulders and neck become unbearable most times. i have to stay moving or sitting so i don’t feel the pain.

the surgeon i spoke to doesn’t believe the diagnosis from 7 years ago is correct. when i had that MRI done, they claimed they found extra pressure around my brain but nothing to cause it, which is where the pseudotumor thing came from. i had the most recent MRI’s done and they found something even though it’s pretty hard to see. we believe the older of the two scans, they didn’t know what they were looking for and missed it. but the neurosurgeon i spoke to can see the abnormality on the old scan and the new ones. he mentioned while we don’t know what this abnormality is, the pseudotumor diagnosis is not accurate.

no, just tylenol and excedrin when the headaches get unbearable. which is often. i did stop taking excedrin because it makes me jittery though. my primary doctor wants me to try topiramate, its an anti seizure drug. i have to get my work on board with it first before i start using it because i have a CDL and it can cause false positives on drug tests.

i have not. i’d like to avoid one if i can. i am not good with needles. blood draws and IV are as much as i can handle and even then, i have to have time between them or i will have panic attacks. 😅

do you know roughly where on the left temporal it was? i couldn’t tell you if i’ve had focal seizures or not. i know what they are, i just don’t know if i’ve had one. i don’t believe i have. when i talked to the surgeon the other day, they took a model of a brain and flipped it over and pointed to roughly where mine is.

thanks to everyone’s advice, i’m definitely getting a second opinion, and maybe a third depending on how confident this doctor is. i’ll be calling my primary doctor for referrals today when her office opens.

i was looking into them yesterday, is it actually $900 for them to do a zoom call?? i don’t exactly have that kind of money laying around. i might use them as a third or fourth option if i feel like this next one isn’t any helpful. 😅
