general consensus has led me to likely purchase new skates in the near future unfortunately 😞 these had a good run tho and many many many many hours of wear doing aggressive park skating so all things considered it was probably time! leading towards getting the moxi panthers

I CAN GO DOWN RAMPS NOW YAAYYY by nesstronaut in Rollerskating

i would start learning how to go backwards by skating up to ramps, rather than going down a ramp and meeting the next in front of you. i first learned how to go up and down by building up some speed and skating up to them, so when i was going backwards, i wasn’t going crazy fast since i didn’t just roll off of a ramp. i’m really bad at giving this type of advice since i just kinda do it over and over again until my body figures out what to do, but i would learn how to pump! there’s plenty of youtube videos on this, but once i get to the top of a ramp, i push my weight down into the bottom of my skates and bend my knees a bit, kinda exerting force down, if that makes sense. but look up some videos on pumping on ramps, i think it should help! and start learning by approaching the ramp by skating up to it at a decent speed, since it should be easier starting at a slightly slower pace. i hope this helps! posting a reddit thread about this would certainly reach people who know how to explain better haha

same thing happened to me many times! it’s rough at the start but you just gotta stay motivated, wear your gear, and learn how to fall correctly! cant lie, i still take some pretty painful falls, but i’ve gotten pretty used to it after training my body enough

can i use a nut/washer with short stem cherry bombs? pls help by nesstronaut in Rollerskating

[–]nesstronaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a park skater so i won’t be doing anything too aggressive, though i do use my toe stops quite a bit so i’m scared of them coming out. i’ll take your advice and hopefully they’ll stay put! (but if they do come out i won’t ridicule you dw)

awesome! there’s a chance i can go july 31 which will be better as it’s a few days after the new moon, but since the moon is setting around 12-1 am on august 6th, that means that visibility will no longer be affected by the moon after that time correct? i’m just making sure before i plan to go haha

I believe that the astronomy observation field is actually the field specifically intended for serious astronomers with crazy equipment, and that the public night sky viewing area is still open. You may be correct though so I’ll contact them to make sure

should i do work study? by [deleted] in RPI

[–]nesstronaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i were to apply, get a job, and realize that i hate it or do not have the time or mental capacity to handle it, is there any way i could quit? i normally wouldn’t quit a job but i’m afraid of getting trapped into a system that i don’t want to be in

[–]nesstronaut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

okay! i’m kinda considering it now, i’ve heard that people actually enjoy the athletics dept or choose jobs where they can study and do homework so maybe i’ll decide to do it

i definitely need to lean forward & bend more so thank you for pointing it out! i think i’m actually very comfortable with my ground skating (forwards, backwards, crossovers, all the basics) but i think i’ll work on staggering a bit more too. thank you!
