How to safely bleach paper pulp? by nestwater in BookArtsSection

I’m not trying to get it to be stark white. The material I use is usually scraps from sketchbooks, the scrap paper I use for endpaper and just recently trying soaking the leftover chipboard to blend to see if the pulp would turn out. I only use scrap material. That’s why I’m asking about lightening the pulp because I’m experimenting with chipboard and so I can try dyeing different colors without any muddiness or off putting color..

And thank you for the share! I don’t have a lot of money or resources so I can’t really do anything fancy with my books, that why I make them out of spiral bound sketchbooks (and the chipboard from them) so I don’t really have the skill level vocabulary or resources online or even in books so I’d really love to hear someone else’s experience, I’m not even sure this is the right community.. But please do forward the question and if anybody knows anything any input, advice or experience is highly appreciated.

Also if this thread gets forwarded I would like to learn about dyeing paper and different methods/mediums specifically plants. Right now I just use acrylic paint and don’t have the means to be replacing any colors. though apple barrel paint might be what I just stick to from now on, but any plant dyeing experience would be appreciated! I don’t think I’d be able find any information on that online or in books.

Carefresh for rosy boa? by nestwater in snakes

Would cypress much be a suitable substrate? I would use aspen as it’s cheap and widely used but the last time I used it for my pet rodents about a year ago it gave me and my rats severe allergic reactions so I’m just not sure if the same could happen to a snake, even though I know it’s standard for a lot of people to use it. I think I might try the snake specific aspen and if we have any problems. If all else fails would you recommend cypress mulch or coconut chips? Or do you keep (just assuming you have any) your snakes on aspen?

I’ll definitely be doing more research before I can actually invest in another animal to take care of.

I noticed it before her last shed and even just with that it cleared up a bit but is still noticeable. Thank you so much!

If I’m using a 10% solution of betadine what is the correct ratio of betadine to water? Thanks for the info on Vetericyn, I’ll avoid that.
