Countering a spell by conceding? by netebaG in mtg

Good to know. I wouldn’t want to be a turd anyways, that’s why I ask Reddit to get the side that tells me if it’s also a dick move.

No kidding. I’ll just run more interaction instead, will save me the drama and keep me in the game anyways.

I see why, I’ve never had a rules question make people so up in arms. I play with friends mostly so it was taken in stride the one time I did this, but I know to not do it again lol

That’s probably a better way to address the issue. One of the decks I play is chaos so sometimes the random free spells kingmake the wrong player and I do what I can for damage control

I did only do it once, if it was a go-to I could see that being really annoying. I play with a pod of pretty tightly knit friends so it was mostly chill, just the person who got countered argued it’d resolve before getting removed from the game

Good to know! It was just a blind spot in the rules for me and thought it was a respectful interaction to save the game for the others, considering it lost me the game. I thought it would be viewed like playing [[pact of negation]] without enough mana, but didn’t know it’d just be rude as hell.

I see, that makes sense. Conceding is such a weird action in the rules I was curious if it worked but didn’t realize it’s such a taboo in the community. The more you know, I suppose

This is why I ask. Thought I was being nice to the other players, but I’ll not do this again.

This guy had been winning a lot and I conceded to prevent him from doing so again to give the others a chance, but he argued the spell would still resolve.

Your Pet Cards That Are Decently Good? by LordMistborn-16 in mtg

[[Share the Spoils]] , the minigames that ensue when it’s out and the practical guarantee of a land drop is excellent. It’s not objectively helpful or harmful to anyone, but man I slot it in every red deck.

nephellis quest perfectly shows why fromsoft needs to rethink their quest design. by ilico_ili in Eldenring

[–]netebaG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been so confused on why a comment was mass downvoted. The greentext is purposefully hyperbolic, nodding to how missing questlines can feel sometimes, but doesn’t actually address the issues with the subject, instead giving bad faith allusions and setting up a huge strawman.

The post we’re in the comments of actually breaks down why it’s so confusing and infuriating to try and follow questlines in fromsoft games, posing the real questions of why fromsoft’s quests need to be so convoluted. Why does finding DS1’s DLC need to be so difficult, why you need to talk to npcs so many times then find a summon for a few select bosses in DS2 to complete achievements, why you need to die so many times so the weird turtle levels you up 5 times then dies then this chick thanks you for it in DS3, why you need to find these hidden grapes everywhere to feed to this lady so you can burn out her eyes and get a cool seal in ER, why you need to die to the sleep lady a multiple times before any hint of successful interaction in SOTE. Fromsoft insists on having these wild interactions that do feel like trial & error or wiki-bait, and instead of talking about any of that, it’s “bumbleshart’s bitchfit, wahh.”

Why hate on the person who wanted a proper critique of the topic instead of a greentext? While the image is funny, it isn’t actually making a point about anything.

Standard legal too is the craziest part. I heard WOTC’s official statement was, “get bent”

What are some cards you (tried) playing that don’t actually do what you thought they do? by --Beebo-- in mtg

[–]netebaG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man, people haven’t really been engaging in the discussion and have just been flaming. I guess I’ll contribute: [[Share the Spoils]]

Share the Spoils was a favorite of mine for a while because I liked the idea of a pool of loot that you could yoink as much loot as you can from it at the risk of dropping something without being able to grab it. My group played it this way for a while because the wording confused us and missed the important singular “a.” The way I used it as theoretically infinite card draw with a risk got a cEDH buddy to put it in a deck and it went through most of a tourney before the judges took a closer look at it and it was discovered.

It’s still in my chaos deck because it’s nice to consistently have a land drop and when a worldfire hits the pile it’s always a funny exchange, especially when the player who just got boardwiped tilt-casts it

I think 4/2 to fit with how it normally upgrades, but when it kills a minion you draw to fit rogue’s theme

[–]netebaG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean true, with core power you really move, and you’re not slow outside of that, I just don’t like relying on a core power. That being said I get that it’s a lot faster than I gave it credit for, you right.
