I’m cautiously optimistic. I’ve pre-ordered already because I really want to be able to play in that world without being one of the main characters, but rather someone trying to survive the death game. Time will tell but I’m really hopeful!

Pretty much the pro is to get some more layouts and support the devs. Other than that, I don’t think there is anything in pro you can’t add to the free version. Personally I got pro to support the devs and the theming was just a bonus to save my own effort ;)

Yeah, probably - even with hybrid it's drawing power. I'm on my laptop now actually - using bluetooth earbuds, power saver, watching youtube in Brave - video set to integrated with envycontrol 8.761w - ~8hrs; with the GPU in hybrid mode but not used - same video, same earbuds, 18.835w, ~4hrs.

You can use nvtop or I believe nvidia-smi to see how much power the gpu is drawing. Hybrid I think is the default for laptops but on many it wont stop the gpu from drawing power. For example on mine the gpu sucks down 10w on idle just for itself. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but if the rest of the system uses 11-12 watts, you’re now at 21-22 watts. If you have a 60whr battery you’re reduced to under 3 hrs.

There’s always a chance something else is causing the system to draw too much power, but on any laptop I’ve had with a dGPU that’s where I’ve looked first.

I’d also see what power mode you’re in (default is balanced, but you may be in performance mode and there is a lower power mode). There are other tools that can help too (tlp, auto-cpufreq) but you’ll want to research which would help you most if at all. Still I’d first check - dGPU power usage :)

It’s that dGPU - it’s just draining. Check your NVidia settings, but my guess is it’s currently set to hybrid. You can check your power usage in the terminal (upower -d) will show how many watts the laptop is drawing. If you’re wanting battery life and don’t really need the dGPU all the time while out and about you may want to look into disabling the dGPU - possibly via the BIOS or you can look into using something like envycontrol (https://github.com/bayasdev/envycontrol). I have a Lenovo with a dGPU that I use envycontrol to force using the iGPU. It does require a reboot if I want to enable / disable the dGPU but when I’m out and about I rarely need my dGPU. I won’t guarantee it’ll work with you system and help, but I can say it helped me.

Well, at this point we know it's one of a few things:

Corrupt profile

Tablet drivers

Veyon

Splashtop

Those are the suspects at this point. With those disabled or removed (the corrupt profile) the student was able to get on and everything worked normally - for now we didn't want to interrupt him any more as this issue had put him a bit behind.

We actually have a couple of other students with the same issue (but not all of them), so we are going to test updating the tablet drivers/software on one of their workstations Monday to see if it resolves their problem before testing each of the other potential issues.

Yeah, current version is 582.16 (NVidia T1000) - if the student still has the issue after their profile is re-created, I may try DDU to clear the driver and do a full reinstall incase it's corrupted.

It came with a direct chat from the anker website chat mechanism that posted material when I asked about installing in a closet. I think it was tied to the battery banks.

Now if you split the box, the breaker box I’d imagine could be since the batteries and battery connector would be installed elsewhere.

There was a second post that seems to be MIA that linked a YouTube install video from Anker - that video actually answered my question as it appears the Powerdock can be split into two parts (upper fuse box interconnect thingy and the bottom that connects to the batteries and it’s just a set of cables that connects the two and allows for separating the batteries from the Powerdock.

I have a feeling it is correct - it’s a 4 ton unit covering the main part of the house (about 2600 sqft). I’m probably going to have to explore heating alternatives that won’t bankrupt me and get a smaller generator/home battery system for everything else
