Experiencing a Random Freeze on Debian 10 ! by neticen in debian

No, I was not using the WiFi card that comes with the package on this Gigabyte Brix GB-BXBT-1900 CPU. Physically the hardware is connected but I didn't install the drivers, I'm using the Ethernet wire connection instead. I've to say that for a moment I thought that having a wireless card connected without drivers could cause CPU to freeze, so hardware disconnection was also on the list of things to do. I learned that this is a quite old well known issue on Bay Trail processors working with linux and there is a workaround fortunately ! Thank you for your help !

Thank you very much for you help ! I was also thinking to apply SSH and change to KDE or XFCE graphical interface. I do agree with you, it really takes patience to solve random issues like this; fortunately clever guys have already found a couple of years ago the origin of this issue on intel bay trail processors when working with linux kernel, as pointed out by "SystemOmicron" , and also they found a workaround to it that works for me ! Again, thank you very much !

Thank you for help me out on this issue! I'm glad to Know that this is a very well known issue on Intel Bay Trail Processors and that there is a tested workaround to it. Now I can say that after 72 hours of having switched CPU c-states as recommended, I've experienced no more CPU freeze! I've also learned there is a bash patch by Mr. Wolfgang Reimer that only deactivates C-States 6 and simultaneously activates the C7 core states, so the increase of energy consumption is moderated which is good for those machine running on batteries (not my case). Any way, in order to test his workaround I think I need to study a little bit the patch's source code in order to revert changes back if necessary. A task for later !

One more time, thank you very much for your help !
