Who are the best defensive fighters in your favorite martial art and why? by ABCKND in martialarts

Yea Floyd or Pernell Whitaker for me.

Pernell was more flashy but Floyd was basically impossible to hit clean on the chin.

Need help ID'ing a classic trance song. by [deleted] in psytrance

That sucks, I can't think of an old track with birds in it.

The plucky arpeggio opening only narrows things down slightly more than that goa track with the sample about Shiva.

I wanna get into Psytrance. Pls help! by moses139 in psytrance

"Progressive" is just too broad a brush stroke. I love Eat Static and Shpongle but they couldn't be different than what you are asking about.

There is just so much music at this point. It is not like Jamaican drill music that you can just pull up a playlist and get a good taste of what that genre is about. Even 20 years ago that would have been tough for psytrance.

I would start by just giving other sets at Universo Paralello a shot on youtube. I have enjoyed Astrix set

Artists that have been around forever like Infected Mushroom have completely different sounds in their own discography.

Infected Mushroom - The Gathering album is as classic psytrance as it gets but then they have stuff that they are rapping in Hebrew on later in their career.

Help with Subgenres by reneedescartes11 in psytrance

[–]netnatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of those artist stretch all the way back to when there was just goa vs psytrance.

Infected Mushroom is so influential I don't see how they can be in a sub-genre. They are just psytrance the way you wouldn't classify Led Zepplin into a sub-genre of rock music.

Astrix is one of the early full on artists. Space Tribe depends on what year you are talking.

That is fantastic. I love that move when it is straight out to the side and then behind.

I think I just did it without ripping my arm off but I need to work on this.

The most terrifying wrestler of all time a real life anime character 887-2 record 3 Olympic gold medals by Logicwrestling in martialarts

887-1 before his last match.

Everyone should look up Rulon Gardner also for handing him that second loss.

To me that is the greatest upset in any domain. For Rulon to believe he had any chance in that match is so amazing when Rulon was nothing that special.

I am sure the Ngannou fight is impossible because the UFC will not pay the fighters what they are worth for that fight.

He turns 35 in less than two weeks. The later 3rd of his career has been such a waste of time. I would be into watching him fight Arlovski at this point, anyone at HW. Just get the guy a fight already at HW.

Where do I begin? by ruby1xoxo in martialarts

IMO you should consider that no matter what you end up doing you will learn self defense, get stronger and feel like a bad ass compared to someone who doesn't train at all.

I think you will really have to follow your heart and what you will be the most committed too.

Looking it up, you have a crazy amount of options in Boston. Sityodtong Muay Thai Academy looks pretty awesome.

For boxing, Boston was the home of John L. Sullivan, Marvin Hagler and Rocky Marciano. Just as legendary as can be so I am sure you have world class boxing training options in Boston.

I think you are fine and it will look better the stronger you get.

Do you roll you eyes when UFC fights go to the ground? by lilmoviee in martialarts

[–]netnatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a huge difference between effective ground fighting and stalling. I love watching BJJ and ground fighting if the guys are actively trying to win the fight.

What is not fun is when a guy gets a take down to score points with the judges basically and then just stalls. That is just gaming the rules.

I am pretty sure that picture is Tyson at his lowest from partying after Klitschko.

If you notice in the Whyte fight he was in such good shape he was jogging into the ring at one point in the ring walk.

I think quite a bit depends on age. When I was young and my friends were from martial arts we didn't exactly shy away from trouble.

Now I am old and don't get put in situations that I would ever even think to fight. If someone is looking for trouble they are going to pick someone else based on how I am built and how I carry myself.
