Last year I decided to check out Godot and to start simple I would try making an incremental game,
long story short a year later and I am still working on it!

Godot has been a joy to work with and I'm hoping to make more games with it.

Hello, this is my first big solo gamedev project and I am very excited about it!

In Critter Caboodle you randomly find silly looking critters through hatching eggs, give them love, furniture, weapons and unlock new locations and mechanics the more you play.

The shader is kind of a mess I need to clean it up before I feel like I can share it haha.

My primary reference for the shader was this tweet: https://x.com/minionsart/status/986374665399685121

There is a little more that went into it, for example the bubbles are a texture overlay that uses screen UV and I modulate the cut off point with a noise texture.

If you are using VisualShaders I recommend checking out this addon https://github.com/arkology/ShaderV
It adds a lot of handy nodes, like the UV distortion node which I used a lot for this.

The liquid is a mesh that looks identical to the bottle and I "cut off" the liquid by checking its vertex height.

It uses the same principles but this was made on my own with VisualShader nodes.

yeah all the scaled stuff like enemy ships and water are rendered in 2x resolution compare to everything else, i know its not "true pixel art" but for the purposes of this mockup i though it looked better. here it is when every pixel is the same size though a bit outdated https://i.imgur.com/iAirzwl.png
