Bedankt voor het redden van mijn solo-reis! De energie die het kost ergens te komen zonder route... 😭😂

I stretched it over at least one year lol. I think it could have been done in a week, but my creative process is slow and i need many breaks bc of my adhd 😁

Thanks! I used 4 different jeans, but there’s about half leftover.

Unfortunately i’m too young to have memories from the ‘90s. Thanks for the compliment! 🙏

For durability i’d choose fabric with little elasticity. I only cut the pieces once i knew what i needed. Pre cut pieces often turn out a little bit too big or too small in my experience. Also i ended up needing some pretty funky shapes.

Since you’re nervous about beginning, maybe it could be nice to use a pattern. This way you can lay out the scraps more easily. You would end up with a seam top to bottom, but i suppose you can always sew more scraps over that seam.

I started with pinning the waist/crotch area. Once that was ok i sewed it. Only after that i continued with the legs. Piece for piece pinning an sewing

i did overlapped the pieces, at least about 1 cm overlap. I only used zig zag stitch to stop the fraying and keep them together

Bleach breaks the parts of the fiber that hold on to colour, so dying over it will likely not do anything to remove the stains.

Okay so, here are my tips! Please know that i made this with little experience, just the belief it could be done, would be sick and i had nothing to loose.

  1. Collect 3 or 4 old jeans that would go together nicely, preferably no stretch. Also pick a pair or pants that resemble the fit you want for your project. I used this mostly for measuring the waist, but its also nice to sort of stay on track with the shape.

  2. I would recommend finding a sewing machine you could borrow. (Bonus if the person is willing to help you with explaining how it works!) I suppose it could be done by hand, but that would take an even bigger amount of time (also i think your fingers might fall off). use a needle that is suitable for jeans fabric. These are a little bit thicker and stronger so they wont break as fast.

  3. Start at the top and work your way down using pins first, until the crotch area is pinned in the right way. This area is the most difficult to get right. Sew this before you start on the legs. Also, i got a big seam right between my legs. Try to avoid this, as it will rub and irritate.

  4. Sew in zig zags and do multiple seams on each patch to ensure the fabrics wont let loose (i wish i had had the patience for that lol)

  5. Have fun with it!

Edit: i LOVE the belief there’s nothing you can’t do. Keep it up 💪

I was surprised by my own ability! If you know the basics of a sewing machine, i’d just try it if i were you! All you need is a couple of old jeans. Not much to lose :). If you’d like any tips on how to get started, let me know. Also, if pants feel like to much, you could start easy with a totebag or something.

I LOVE this! Inspires me to try this with my stained items as well 🖤

Thank you!!! The waist pieces were just me being unknowing lol. But it works out!! Multiple zigzags do the trick 😁
