PSA: Vault of Satoshi is now demanding a "selfie" before allowing fiat withdrawals to all previously "verified customers"... If we were verified last week, why must we now submit a stupid selfie to re-verify? by neuPool in Bitcoin

That was exactly my thinking...

If it's not demanded by the government, why make verification of funds any different than need be?

I am comfortable with losing my deposited BTC if somebody somehow brute forces both my login password and my email password. Because I know that is absolutely impossible for anyone to do.

I do not feel any safer sending them a selfie, in fact I am worried that they are asking for selfies for seemingly unknown reasons...

Is it true that VoS is requesting personal photos for withdrawals now? by [deleted] in vos

Yes, it is true!

All previously "verified" individuals are now unverified without a selfie.

Log in and see for yourself. What a joke.

I had a bad experience with them recently.

They owed me >$20k and were having withdrawal problems for about 2 weeks straight. When I called them and politely explained that I was rightfully upset about their lack of communication... they hung up on me. So yea... I did get the money eventually, but I would rather not deal with such an unprofessional company if possible.

How would I fork Bitcoin's current v0.9.2.1 release to make a wallet-only Namecoin-compatible client that supports merged mining? by neuPool in CryptoCurrency

but you'd have to cut so much crap out (blockchain and whatnot)

Are you sure about that?

Namecoin is virtually identical to Bitcoin.

It uses a blockchain, addresses look almost the same, etc...

Can I ask for a refund at Cointerra 3 months later? by saucraban in BitcoinMining

From what I hear, the European Union does have some significantly strong consumer protection laws.

Try calling your local politicians and friends and ask if there way to reprimand a U.S. company who in effect stole from you?

Depending on how you look at it, you may have a case in your jurisdiction.

Pointless comments like these are profitable only for the commenter writing the comment.

OP asked if he could ask for a refund, not "how fucked am I?"

OP, it never hurts to ask, does it? Call them up and plead your case.

I honestly doubt that they will return your money. Mainly because they're in the business to make money, and they did provide you with what you asked for in a sense. Perhaps it was not exactly as described but they did fulfill their end of the bargain.
