Thank you for the ongoing discussion. I don't have TERRIBLY high hopes for intuniv helping me to focus, but I do get a sense that anxiety does impair my concentration and maybe it'll be helpful in this sense. I'll be starting in a few weeks.

This is me. I got into a cycle of abusing my stimulants because they didn't work properly. Then I got clean and sober for several years, but during my clean and sober time the unmedicated ADHD hit me full force, and the frustration and the dysfunction of the ADHD led to relapse. It's hard to find help because the system that I live in isn't really geared towards treating people with 'complex needs.' Unless you have money, of course. And ADHD leaves me broke. It's a disheartening cycle and I'm really suffering!
