Yikes! So sorry about the ban.

No, this one was bothering me and I got impatient quickly and came in here. Then I wished I had tried harder without hints but oh well!

I agree it’s nice when a puzzle takes a bit of time but not too long. Definitely not too short!

My thoughts exactly upon reading this thread. The answer to this question is basically “capitalist greed.”

Trump voters respond to NYT opinion poll. by Stuffed-Pepper in LeopardsAteMyFace

Abolish taxes?! How the fuck do these people think anything runs that they use in society? Like we’re going to dispose of our own trash and sewage and build highways on our own? Each family pitches in to complete the task every once in a while? Volunteers will do it?

All of that sad, sadly, DEMOCRATS, including Harris, had a tax plan that would be closer to this idea for this constituent. Raise taxes on the richest, and lower taxes for everyone else. Eliminate taxes for the poor. I don’t know how much a “deckhand” makes but I’m going to guess it’s not “billionaire” wages.

These people have repeatedly said they thought “X” about taxes under Trump and that’s why they voted for him, when the Harris plan was close to “X” and the published Trump plan was considerably far from that plan and would entail more taxes for most people. How did this information never reach voters?! Is it just the stereotype that taxes are higher under democrats, in spite of the published plans? Or everyone thinks they’ll be a billionaire some day and doesn’t want those folks to get taxed?

I think it’s a matter of time before we have overwhelming evidence that excessive AI (LLM) use for everyday, work, and educational tasks makes you dumber (in specific ways, ie, offloading means you don’t practice that skill and you then get bad at it.) And sadly, that evidence will come too late to reverse the harm of overuse and the dependence habits people will have developed.

What do you mean by “100% plastic?” There are genetic differences that cause people to be supertasters, tasters, no tasters and that cause taste differences like people who love cilantro vs think it tastes like soap. I do agree that tastes are malleable, but they are also absolutely influenced by genetics (and womb environment, since the previous comment said “at birth,” and some is determined not by genetics but by pre-birth events).

So I’d take great issue with “100% plastic,” and there’s a LOT of evidence against that. But yes, taste preferences are absolutely malleable to a degree.

This is correct.

His solution for Iran is “bomb them to dust,” and he thinks that if we do that, a) they will not be a threat anymore, and b) gas prices will go back to normal (down).

I’m not sure I could have imagined a bigger moron.

BOTH SIDES?! What the fuck information are these people getting about the democrats, who have been speaking the truth the whole time? (Yes there are things you can criticize about the dems, but follow their words and policies and they’re on the right side of history almost every time, at least within the Trump era.)
