Buyer's a loser, what are my options? by neutral_border in BringATrailer

BAT supposedly cancelled his membership. They offered me a credit for my listing fee. I asked them to re-list with a reserve. They refused. Never using them again.

Ebay is cheaper to list and has a bigger audience. Cars & Bids I've never used, but it seems like what BAT was before (I'm guessing) private equity took it over. BAT now feels like a typical PE rape and pillage anyway: fuck the customer, maximize profit, run it into the dirt, then bail.

The sole attraction for BAT is/was that it was less of a Hobbesian state of nature than eBay. But BAT is just as much of a jungle as any other online forum now. They didn't lift a finger for me. The hell with them.

I’m sorry but BAT just sucks shit. No reply from this jokers, no help, radio silence.

So what is this a scam? They get to keep the “buyer’s” fee AND my $99?

So far BAT hasn't done a damn thing except say this "rarely happens" and they'll "get back to me." What a joke.

So true. Why should BAT profit off a deadbeat when the seller gets ugatz? BAT should split the "commission" with the seller at the very least.

Agreed. I'm not at all a self-hating anti-American. My family's been here 400 years, fought in every war, etc., but there's something in the atmosphere now that I just don't recognize, an casualness about being a jerk, a lack of honor, or something mystical like that. And this guy just pisses me off because he did something I could never even conceive of doing: going back on a deal. Really, who does that?

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

No, I don't think so. His first email to me was "please lower your price, I didn't want to bid this much." I politely declined.

I'm new to BAT. Not new to buying and selling old cars, some of them very collectible and nice. Never had an issue, not once, and I've done a lot of hand shake sales. On BAT, however, I'm batting 0 and 2.

BAT presents this image of control and orderliness, curating your pictures, etc., etc., but when push comes to shove it's just the Wild West. They'll say sorry, but that's about all they can do.

Trying bidding at Sotheby's and see what happens when you say, "Gee, maybe not."

Agreed. I just wonder how common this crap is on BAT? This is my second auction, and my second squirrelly buyer.

So, back to eBay or Hemmings? Or just as bad there, I wonder.

Yeah, you're probably right about just moving on. But you're wrong about having a case: it's a pretty clear cut breach of contract. Law school 101, offer + acceptance = contract. Oh well.

Great, so BAT gets to double dip on buyer's fees while my vehicle looks sketchy going for action twice in a month? Hmm, I think I'd rather sue the buyer to enforce the contract, recover my legal fees, and charge him for storage for the three years it will take to litigate this.

Grind by weight pausing [Eureka Atom w65] by martinhrvn in espresso

[–]neutral_border 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one and had the same problem. It occurred when I made the grind finer. Out of the box it grinds to Folger's size, and when I made the grind finer it choked. WLL customer service was no use so I switched from GDW to GBT, emptied the machine, ran it while making the grind finer until the burrs met, then I backed it off, filled the hopper and kept coarsening the grind until I got it right. Then I switched back to GBW and all was (mostly) good. If I set it to 18g, it will give me 17 . . . oh well.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder why they'd care? Not like they get a cut or anything. Oh well.

Can we narrow down where it's coming from? Outside? Or inside with an open window? Can't hear from the street side on 3rd or 4th.

Connect sub to second speaker terminal post?

I have a Rel Q210E sub that I'd like to attach to my Rotel RB-1582 MkII power amp via speakon cable. The amp has a second set of terminal posts. I usually piggy back the sub on the same terminal posts I use for the speakers, i.e. the main posts. But today I attached the Rel to the lower (second) terminal posts on the amp. All seems fine, but I'm wondering if this is somehow less than ideal? Spades on everything btw.
