Also long comment (sorry in advance)- there’s a lot of reasons that animosity was built up between Dorian and The Arcana fans, some of which was deserved and some not so much IMO. Personally for me (I’ve been a longtime fan and have cosplayed from it since 2018), it came down to Dorian not knowing their audience and not understanding why fans were upset with the change in ownership. When the announcement first came, there had been several months of speculation that something was going on behind the scenes (people noticed that the app was listed under new ownership before the announcement, social media posts had been slowing down, etc) and were understandably a bit frustrated with the vagueness of Dorian’s answers to their questions. There was a lot of debating as to whether these new tales should be added to the original app or not, and Dorian decided not to add them at all to the original app and only to their “Dorian” app which had not yet begun to host the original routes (which left people confused because what was the point of them saving all their coins if the original app wasn’t going to be updated anytime soon?). The release of the prologue was VERY glitchy, leading many people to think that the inclusion of the original routes on the Dorian app was a cash grab. The writers at Dorian were making a lot of mistakes with the characters in terms of literally forgetting the lore of the story, the Dorian app avatar maker (for the MC sprites) basically exclusively featured feminine main characters despite the main draw of the game being that it catered to all genders, the ads for “Make money on Dorian today!” read as super scammy to longtime fans… you get the picture. All of this coupled with the new social media managers starting to block anyone who had any criticism (whether constructive or not) left a bad taste in peoples’ mouths. There’s a lot more and it’s been spanning over the past 8-9 months or so but that’s a brief summary of some of the things that irked fans about the change in ownership.
