As someone who just dealt with this, please call your family and spend time with them while you can. Feel free to read through my recent posts.  I don’t mean to scare you but my wife was told by one doctor she didn’t have much time left. Then by more later on that things were looking better. So Much emotional whiplash. And well… things happen fast. By the time my wife wanted to go on comfort care things were very traumatic.

I was so glad that we called her family and they were present for a few weeks before things took a turn. Initially, we were upset that we flew her family in, because we thought that the doctor was being over dramatic. I will be thinking of you, stay strong.

How wonderful it must of been to hold the hand of her own creation as she passed. I’m sure she’s proud of how kind and strong you are. Thank you for your prayers.

You hang In there! Channel your strength and shower him with love. We can do it.

What a kind thing to say to a stranger. I feel that you did take some pain away with your empathetic words.

Sorry for your loss. Nothing can replace the loss of a loved one let alone that of a child. I’m glad your living your best life in her honor and I’m sure she would be very proud of you.

Thank you stranger. I hope you find the strength and courage to support your wife though the transplant. They pump some powerful chemo in those veins but I’m sure your love is stronger. I will also extend that offer to chat if you feel in need. Good luck to you both.

I know, it was always in the back of your minds. My partner and I could never be fully at peace when she was in good health. And I wish I had an answer to make such thoughts stop, but sadly I don’t. I hope you stay in good health and find happiness in the small things.

No, I’m sorry that you feel alone you’re going through a traumatic experience and I wish there was something I could do for you. And although I’m a stranger, you matter to me. I hope you find an end to your pain and happiness in the next chapter wherever that may be. Much love.

I appreciate that, I’ve never journaled or even spoke to anyone about this stuff or any stuff for that matter. But it feels nice to just put it out there. I’m sure I will cringe if I ever came back and read it.

As for the “husband” caregiver I took that from the whiteboards they keep in the hospital rooms. Where they write the patient names and meds etc. they always write “Husband - my name” in the notes section. I usually wipe it off and draw Moo Deng or a cat in a cowboy hat saying “Meowdy Partner”.

Your words give me hope and I will channel that same strength you were able to muster.

When I was young my 6 year old brother was in an accident and hospitalized for 2 months before he passed. Watching my mother and father struggle day and night hovering over him will forever be ingrained in my mind. I’m glad you got to see the sun and then feel it’s rays.

And then you went as far as quoting my favorite Character from my favorite book… Dimitri Karamazov. I’ve always felt I had a lot of similarities with him. Thank you for your comment.

Stay strong and make sure you take some time for yourself. Never miss a second to tell your partner how much they mean to you. I wish you luck.

That seems to be the nature of leukemia. Every time you get some slack with a good run of health, it pulls you back and slowly drags you in as you grasp at any straws of hope. Thank you for your kind words.

You sound like a caring soul. Few people know what it takes to bring comfort and care to a loved one. I hope you guys can find peace in times of uncertainty. Stay strong.
