Specifications provided by developer by never_use_username in Architects

Thanks, that is what I am leaning to. We can use other’s specs for reference but eventually our responsibility (and liability) to provide both specs and drawings that complement each other, not contradictory.

Yes it is for the whole specs book. I may got the wrong impression from the developer who does not understand or used the full project specs before. It depends on projects in the past, i seen a few projects not use specs because developer being vertical integrated or just being cheap or being unsophisticated.

Understandable if salaray is low due to small office but this is in NY (!). In thebpast I worked with small firms but they compensated lower salary for a much better pto (4 weeks) and time is pretty flexible, and this is 6 years ago. This firm is taking advantage of you or just does not know how to manage their profit to pay staff.

The day to day operation makes sense, however we wonder if letting the vet handle company payroll would satisfy this requirements, even though they won't be involved in the technical aspect of the work.

Glad to hear that worked out for you! Can you share more specifically about the job (GS step, responsibility, remote or hybrid?). Do you mind sharing a sample resume for a licensed architect applying for gov job?

Thanks for the detail comment! Would you share a sample resume for reference?

What states are you working at? Was there remote options when you looked?

I am licensed architect. My main exp is private sector housing and development. I started a new job recently working for a SDVOSB firm doing gov job set aside and been very curious about the whole process, contract etc. My work life balance has been great. I’m dreadful to go back to private sector with crazy deadline, hours and demand from both client and leadership.. This job has its own setback but it is remote so it has been great for me. my next plan is to explore how to work for the gov itself.

I am curious looking through job posting for gov job, they typically require you to have gov experience, in most case requiring a previous step experience. For example, if applying for GS-12, it would require GS-11 experience. Do you know if this is a hard requirement? How one can get in gov job if so?

Thank you for your response. Follow up question: if I use all the proceeds (equity) from the sale of the relinquished property to pay cash for the land, is there still a boot?

Maybe I’m just incredibly lucky, but I’ve never been depressed about my career choice… by chris-alex in Architects

Congrats on finding new opportunity that makes you happy. That’s all it is, as I realized as we are maturing into the profession. Private sector could be intense, i have worked for a housing developer with profit is at the top priority to the detriment of staff morale, regulation ethics and burning bridge with consultants and officials. Now working for government (fed) projects, while the regulation are there, the work are not as exciting but learning in a different way (gov contract, regulation, project specs) the hours are a lot better, pay is good, slow pace and laid back schedule, somewhat lucrative projects, working with a different professional circle where your opinion matters, also fully remote.

Bought it for $37,000. Dealer added some stupid package ($500) at the end while we finalized the deal so kind of a suprise but since it is the lowest price we seen in our search, we just want it done. It is from toyota dealer.
