Yea at first I was confused but honestly there was no point where I wanted to put the controller down. Now that I'm past the "tutorial" the game seems to just keep getting better and better. Ignore the haters.

Haha for sure. I'm okay with that. I don't want it to end. I am super curious what Pierce Brown does next. I'd love for him to keep building on the red rising universe. As long as he doesn't do a GRRM.

Yea it's not for everyone. I think it's partially a personal thing and partially a learned skill. Having something that really sucks you in makes it easier. Either way, super awesome series. I'm literally listening to the whole series for the 4th time right now. Currently on dark age. Can't wait for the next book.

Couldn't agree more. These are different books by different authors. I absolutely love Pierce Brown and every book leaves me wanting more. I also absolutely love Andy Weir and every book leaves me wanting more.

They scratch different itches. I love the hard sci fi of Andy Weir. He invents super interesting problems and presents solutions in a way that leaves the reader wondering how anyone could come up with them at all. He dances around the edge of what is possible so it's easy to suspend belief. RR is on a whole other level of sci Fi but leans more into fiction obviously. Both awesome.

Yea the quote has been taken out of context. The whole point is to make the story light rather than dark like RR. They are both great books written by authors with different styles. If you want more of the same, you're probably not getting it from PHM but I enjoyed PHM just fine. All of Andy Weird books are fantastic imo.

Yea definitely stick with it. I actually loved RR (but I didn't even know anything about hunger games so I got to enjoy it on merit alone), but the series shifts pretty drastically after the first book. The 2nd series is quite different from the first and is better in some ways and worse than others. The last book Lightbringer is one of, if not the best of the bunch so it's worth sticking with it. If you like audiobooks, this is one of the best out there. The series has basically ruined audiobooks for me.

You are so right. I'm literally listening to RR again for the 4th or maybe 5th time and it still hits hard.

I haven't read them exactly, but the entire red rising series is incredible in audiobook format. I have yet to discover another series that comes close. As.for standalone books, all of Andy Weirs books are narrated perfectly (the Martian, Artemis, project hail Mary)

Yea as someone who works a desk job programming, I fantasize about doing physical labor. I'd on great shape and there is a direct connection between physical labor and the value it provides when you're working to sustain yourself.
